Turbo whistle while towing???

A friend of mine is trying to talk me into removing my turbo ring and the baffles in the intake tube like he did to his 03. I like the sound of the turbo, but I am concerned that the noise will be excessive while pulling my 10,000 lb. trailer. How much louder will it be when pulling the trailer? Don't want to hear the wife wine on top of the turbo wine... ...

Not much difference if you have a stock air box. You really notice it if you get an aftermarket box and filter.

agreed. It's hard to tell on mine because I can't hear it that well over the 5" straight pipe exhaust.

Torbo Whine

I regularly pull our 29' travel trailer and the turbo whine is never really a problem. The sound is not any louder than normal, as long as I leave the intake normal... if I put the BHAF on the truck... the whistling is louder and the spool up is quicker. Don't worry... . the truck shouldn't whine any more than the wife... I know mine doesn't!!! Oo. Oo.

Well I have to go the other way and say I didn't care for the noise.

I bought this trick looking "Cool Blue" hose that replaced the hole thing from charger to filter intake and the high pitch whine was just too much while towing, It was bearable unloaded.



I think maybe if you had an open filter element and even removed the silencer you might get enough "more" noise to drown out the high pitch frequency. It was actually hard on the ears.



Its just 2 hose clamps to swap and takes just minutes so ask your buddy to swap his for yours so you can drive it that way for a few days, it took me just one day to decide, you may like it.

I have an AFE, tourque tube and a HTB2. Yep she sings while towing (8,000lbs rv). But only on the hills when you're on it. Cruising there's no difference between loaded and unloaded. That whistle turns some heads when you're climbing. It's cool to see the faces of guys look in the mirror are you're coming up on them. Especially the PSD guys. My wife doesn't really say anything. Which is good because she owns half of it. LOL. That and she's use to it.

Mine screams even with the stock airbox, when trailering. I really love the sound.
