My turbo whistles over about 1500 RPM. I don't think this should be happening.

I took it to my local dealer, he kept it for a week, and he said I hear it because I have a K&N Air Filter (stock box).

He did replace a hose, don't know which one.

The pitch of the whistle changes with load and RPM.

Any suggentions on what hte problem might be?

Thanks

Boost leak??

If this is a new symptom, you may have a boost leak. I had one and just thought it was normal turbo whistle. It did vary with rpm and load. Don't see guages in your sig. My leak didn't effect my boost readings.

both cummins ive owned blew one of the rubber boots off ( connecting from turbo to cooler to engine )

check and make sure all rubber boots are on and tighten all the clamps

otherwise your turbo should wine

its in its nature

its cool:cool:

I will check all the hoses.

This is very high pitched and loud enough that I hear it over the radio, on long trips it can give me a headache.

I'm use to turbe whine but this is more of a whistle.

Do you have gauges? I had a whistle at 20+ psig boost that would drive you nuts. After tightening all the boots on the charge air system, replacing the intake elbow gasket, etc. , etc. , I finally found that the rubber hose going to my Westach EGT/boost gauge was just about to come off the barb fitting on the back of the gauge. All that was holding it on was the tie wrap I had installed for a clamp. After reseating the hose and installing 2 tie wraps, the whistle was gone! :D
