Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) turbo ????????

how can you tell when your turbo is going out? i have play up & down, side to side, and in and out. not a whole lot but i can tell it has be touching the side of the housing a few times. can this cause the turbo to over heat and could this make my truck loose power over long drives on the hy way. some times i will be driving along the free way and then it's like some one turned my turbo off. i will have no power and it smokes like mount saint Hellenes. then i pull over let the truck cool down and hay i have power. one more thing if this sounds like i need to replace it or have it rebuilt where should i go? i am in Austin TX. thank's

Well one way to tell if it is bad, Does it puke oil out of it?

And the other is how much boost is it throwing? This is always a good start to knowing if the turbo is bad. Also can you hear the turbo?

ya you can here the turbo i pulled the ring out of it to make it louder. towing my trailer the boost is not so good going up hill it's about 15lbs of boost. i don't think thats good. i will look in to having it rebuild but the only place i have called is the one that was posted. they want $650. 00 for a reman and i send them mine. not bad but i need my truck and it will take them a week to get it to me. so i need to try and fine some one in texas that can rebuild turbo. i will be checking around and i will keep ya'll posted. thanks

you can get a brand new dodgezilla for almost the same price without trading in your old turbo.



the dodgezilla will move a lot more air too.

your turbo is trash... replace it ASAP before it goes kaboom and causes even more work for you...
