:--) Yesterday on a long grade just as I got to the top my boost pressure dropped to zero and it sounded like a gun shoot. Boost was at 16lbs,stock. I stopped raised hood and boot had blown off,but oil was dripping out the bottom of turbo. I was about 4 miles from home so limped on in.

What the heck happened, did a seal blown or what? The prop still spins easy and there is no end play. I'm thinking a new turbo. 135900 and this is first major fault.

This would be a great excuse (if you need to justify to wifey) to get that new turbo. I'd hook up the hose and giver a go. MHO Let us know how you progress.

Turbo

If the turbo blade spins free with little play and the oil supply lines are in good shape : Try putting the new boot on, if it revs OK in the driveway, then out for an easy spin, if OK you may have got off easy. Good luck R C

better be damn careful if the seal did blow  you could get into a runaway condition that could blow the engine or worse.

confirm if you have an oil leak before firing it up again.

There's a fellow here that rebuilds Ram that have been totaled and he is looking to see if he has a spare,if he does he said 500 will get it. Cummins want 931. 68 for a rebuilt. So now is the wait and see game. If the used one has below 30000 on it I'll go with it but over that I'll be better with the new rebuilt,I guess.

Wow  thanks Bob, totally forgot about that. Sorry dcoffman.

So I guess if there's any question fire it up with the hose leaving the turbo off and see what the deal is, like dcoffman did? Isn't there a rebuild kit available?
