How many miles does a stock turbo usually last ? I can't even hear mine , and I am not seasoned enough to tell weather or not if it's half lame or still good

Mine have lasted an average of 350-400k. Installing a boost gauge costs less than replacing a good turbo.

Every engine needs gauges. How many is up to you but then you have a baseline of normal and can help eliminate sitting on the side of the road.

Inspecting the turbo takes five minutes. Remove the inlet hose. The wheel should spin freely. No in and out play and side play can't allow the wheel to contact the housing. No oil leakage.

Is the truck down on power? Have you inspected all your boots and clamps between the turbo and intake to make sure you dont have a boost leak somewhere?

Mine started leaking exhaust between the sides, for a couple seconds I thought about getting a rebuild kit. With 340k on it I decided to order a new one.
