powerstroke vs. dmax (yes again, this is a sighting I enjoyed)

Turbo compressor blade?

WOW!!! What a cool project! Also a very informative thread. I would think that the garret should be able to make as much boost as one of our holsets, right? Or are holsets that much better? 12 pounds seems a little low. Good job on the intercooler, but I "think" that a standard intercooler would be much more efficient, flow more, and lower egt a lot more. A standard intercooler has fins inside the tubes as well as the ones on the outside (like on the outside of a radiator). Find a junk intercooler, cut it up, and you will see what I mean. The garret t04xx is one of the most common and cheap turbos you will ever find.

If you would like, I will go to "my turbo guys" and ask them what they would recomend for a turbo on that. I know they can get whatever you want for it, and for wholesale cost. Let me know if I can do anyting to help. Once again, good job!

Chris- Thanks for the kind words about my project...

:D :D

Yea, the Garrett should make as much boost as a holset, but after some reasearch (and thanks to this thread), I've determined that my compressor housing is WAY to small...

After I get a big enough compressor wheel and housing, I'm hoping to/should get 20 - 30 lbs.

Yeah, I agree, a standard intercooler would probably flow a lot better, but at the time, I wasn't sure where or how to get one around here, and if I was, I wasn't sure how I was going to make it fit between the radiator and the grill, so I just replaced the grill... :D

My interccoler has bigger tubes than a standard intercooler, and though I haven't had it flow- tested or anything, after a long pull, you can feel how one sides hotter than the other. (Copper tubing dissipates heat well... ) I know it helps with air temps, but as you said, It might be limiting the amount of air and therefore increasing egt's...

That would be great if you could go to your "turbo guys" and see what they recommended for this engine... Factory turbocharged would have a T04E12. (I have a T04E10 on now. ) According to Ray Hall Turbocharging's java internet calculator, for the boost I wanted, a Series T04 V1 would be the right one.

Anyways, sorry for ramblin'...
