The HY35 has a 9cm exhaust housing and no parts available. The HX35 comes with a standard 12cm housing and you can get them with a 14cm housing, or you can get the housing separate. The HY will spool up way faster but make higher EGTs due to higher restriction in the exhaust housing.

Had an HY35 now have a PDR HX40. No more or less lag-better egt's but hell they are way over 1300 if I push it. Difference is around $1,100 but the feelings are priceless. Oo.

Don't Bother

Until you do something to add horsepower/fuel you don't need to worry about a different turbo.

turbo's

I have a 02 with an auto which came with a hy35. the only mods i have are 4" exaust and k&n in box filter. In anticipation of future mods I installed a PDR HX 35 (12) first. It spools QUICKER, the truck had more power and has lowered the EGT's 100-200.

I was told that the PDR hx flows about 35% more air than a hy. This in turn is what caused more whiiissshhh noise. With what $$ I may get out selling my hy subtracted from the total amount Not a bad deal, I think it is worth the money and effort... .....

If you find a good market for HY-35's let me know. I know where there are several that would like new homes. One buddy tried to sell his on Ebay and the highest bid was $50.

hy

thats why I ahve not tried to sell it , dont care. I was told by someone that knows what they are talking about that HY's are wanted for twin turbo set ups and are also used for non dodge applications. With mine only having 8000 mi, it might be worth something.

Call ATS John

If whoever is building that triple turbo system gets it working properly there will be a demand for HY's.

Nowel,

I may do that, but heck I have an HY-35, a PDR-HX35-12 and an HX40 on hand, one more turbo and I could have tripples... hehehe

Thanks for the info.

John

I was thinking I would convert the truck to 2 wheel drive and run real skinny drag rims and tires in the front. That way I could cut out the wheel well and get em all jammed in there... ... :D

P. S. I dont want a new turbo... . perfectly content just wonder about stuff sometimes, like why the change??? Some have already answered my question. I like to cram as much knowledge as I can in my ugly little head:)

The major difference between the turbos is the size of the exhaust housing. . the HY is small and spools up quick, the HX is a bit bigger and spools almost as fast. I believe they went to the HY on the 01 automatic trucks for this reason.
