Floor it, I've been running with the EZ and BullyDog stage 3 injectors for about 5 months, I just added the TST PM 3 Comp box, piggy backed to the EZ.
With the EZ and the stage 3 injectors, the smoke is easily managable by just not hitting it hard with low boost, otherwise, oh yeah, you will have a fair amount of black smoke until the boost picks up. I really can't give you a fair reading on the egt's, due to my other BOMB's, other than stating that mine never go above 850 or so (pre-turbo) while climbing the grades around here at a 'normal' pace. If I really push it up some of our steeper grades I can see about 1200 degree egt's.
Now with the TST... on level 2 I see somewhat quicker spool up of the HX40 and about the same abount of smoke as with just the EZ. Level 6, which is equal to level 10 on a non-comp. box, spool up the turbo real quick, which equates to shorter but thicker blasts of smoke. On a WOT run, again empty, up a 17% grade (about one mile), my egt's are around 1300 on level 6.
Here's my suggestion to you, assuming that you already have at the minimum a egt. gauge.
First, check your fuel pressure and be sure that you have at least 12 psi's at idle, if your below that idle, BOMB's maybe just that for you in regards to the VP44 once you add fueling enhancements. Next, try out the Edge EZ with the stock injectors, it really made a difference in my ETH, with everything else stock, including the injectors. My egt's actually lowered about 100 degrees from stock when pulling the same grades with the EZ box. If that is not enough, then upgrade your clutch first, then I would try either stage 1 or 2 injectors, as you tow and have a concern over egt's. If that is still not enough, then piggyback a adjustable high fueler, such as the TST or one of the other adjustable boxes. Another route you could take, and this might save you some money in the long run, is to just try the new Edge Comp. box out, with the stock injectors. This already has the EZ built in with the benefit of also being a major fueling box at the touch of a button. You could always add bigger injectors at a later date. Hope this helps !!!!
