Turn off Lamp Out Indicator?

It's on all the time. No lamps are out. Any way to permanently disable this annoyance?

Did you replace an incandescent with an LED? If so, you'll need a balance resistor to draw the same current as the old bulb(s) to cause the computer to see the same current draw and turn off the bulb out light.

All of the responses have been about finding my bulb problem. While I appreciate that, it is not what I am asking. All of my bulbs work. I am not looking to find the problem with my bulbs, I am looking to turn it off. How is that accomplished?

Thanks for sharing that...It doesn't really answer my questions (it is about the buzzer, i want to turn the light off). But closer.

Pull the cluster and remove the bulb. Seriously it's easier to fix it or fool the system via resisters to keep the light off. It's a courtesy warning to keep one from getting a fix it ticket. We don't have a context as to why you have this problem like LED mods or a bad socket so our view to simply fix it may be unfair.

I had the same problem. I remove the assembly, removed each bulb, put dielectric grease on each one & and reassembled. Fixed my problem, but this doesn't mean it will fix yours. What ever happen to turning on your parking lights and walking behind the vehicle and looking?

All of these were asked and suggested. The OP hasn’t answered or given us anything else.

-As stated before, everything is working. There are no lights out
-No LED, all stock
-03 Ram 2500
-All of the answers are focused on the mechanical part of the system (bulb, boards, adding resistors). What I want ot know is how to get in to the software and disable the damn thing. Thanks

It’s been covered several times.

Your options....

A. Pull dash, remove light.

B. Remove actual lamps from taillights and front turn signals and fix/replace/add dielectric grease to sockets to fix actual issue.

C. Black electrical tape on dash to cover your light.

D. Ignore said light.


I would suggest fixing the actual issue, hence why you got excellent advice for the members here on how to do it.

I understand it doesn't monitor the 3rd brake light, but, does monitor headlamps. Not sure about fog lights. With all lights "on" and 4 way flashers "on" is the lamp out still on?

Cleaning grounds is generic advice for electrical problems. Check fuses. It's possible the lamp out system itself has failed, but, the factory service manual should have a procedure to troubleshoot further.

I chased a lamp out issue in my '03 for weeks. Turned out to be a bad aftermarket front turn signal socket. I think the system monitors front and rear lights, not sure about 3rd brake. Just because all the lights work doesn't mean there's no problem.

The Lamp Out indicator didn't bother me, but that darn chime drove me nuts.
