I did a search on this but i couldnt come up with anything. I think I need a new multifunction switch but I wanted to check around and see if this is a common problem, I googled it and found at least 2 other guys with the same issue.

When I signal left the right indicator flashes, when I signal Right the Right (correct) Indicator flashes. as you can imagine this could be a very serious problem if someone following you thinks your turning the opposite direction at an intersection. Any help you guys can offer is appreciated.

My 06 did this on the way home last weekend. I had also been having problems with my headlites not dimming or brightening when I pull the stalk.

I removed my multifunction switch. While I had it out, I removed the two screws from it and popped it open. Inside there was a circuit board. Lubricating assembly grease ( WAY TOO MUCH OF IT) had melted and left a thick greasy film on the circuit board. This caused the little "contact points" that slide across the surface to not make good connection. I cleaned the circuit board surface with contact cleaner. Now everything works fine. Took about 15 minutes. Hope this helps someone.

Yeah these new switches are fun. They send more signals thru a couple of wires (saves cost) and they do it by using a different voltage for something, and a diff voltage for another. So with a malfunction, you can get the wipers when you want flashers, or horn, isn't that great? I retrofitted an aftermarket remote door opener, and that's when I realized that it uses different voltages for each function, and the instructions were bad, so I had to figure it out on my own, what resistor it took to lock vs unlock.

The switch sends a digital code through the wires, and the computer on the other end sees the digital code and turns on or off the item you commanded... ...

New Multifunction switch was $70 from the dealer. Its worth the money to me to replace it and not risk having any more problems. Everthing is working and back to normal.

How was it to replace? mines still under warranty but it took them 2 1/2 days to replace a bad u-joint under warranty #@$%!, I'll fix it myself

really easy, 20min job. remove the 3 torx screws holding the plastic steering column bezel together. remove the tilt lever. and there are 2 phillips screws that hold the multifunction switch in. Unplug the harness and put it back together. Definately a do it yourself project.

Just Be Sure You Disable The Airbag. You Can Set Them Off Accidently Then Your $70 Part Becomes Over $1000. I Haven't Done It On My Trucks But I Did Do It On A Chevy Truck Some Years Back.

I have had the same thing happen to my 06.

I went to the NHTSA website and filed a complaint.

Within 2 weeks, I received a phone call followed by the email below.

IVOQ - File a Complaint

Hi Peter,

Thank you for your report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) concerning the turn signal problem. Please take a few minutes to help with the following:

1. How did you discover the reversed turn signal error? Did you experience any “white knuckle” (near accident) events as a result?

2. Does this reversed turn signal error happen to both the turn signal indicators in the dash as well as the outside blinkers?

Is this an intermittent problem? If so, about how often does it happen or do you notice it? Do you think this problem has anything to do with heavy electrical load such as when towing a trailer with all the inside and outside lights on?

3. Has the problem been properly diagnosed and corrected?

4. Please email or fax (202) 366-1767 me a copy of the repair invoice, if available.

5. By any chance you have learned of other similar incidents from other Ram truck owners? If so, where?

Thank you very much.

Just for my info... How is the air bag disabled to work on the steering wheel? Disconnect the battery?

wrong way!

Now my '05 has turn signals blink wrong way when they feel like it. Unbelievable. This wouldnt deserve a safety recall because????. Perhaps the factory can write a flash so that the horn will honk when I pull on the turn signal lever (to warn the general public that someone is using their known-defective product).

Anyways, CAn this multimalfunction switch be replaced w/o disabling airbag or not? How would one disable the airbag to do this, theoretically speaking of course, because some people may not not be comfortable giving this advise to strangers over the internet.

There is no real danger to deploy bags unless you hit, disconnect, or drop a tool on the sensor, above the transmission tunnel.

Procedure: disconnect batteries, wait 2 minutes for bag 'puter to lose power.

I am having this same problem along with the windshield wipers acting all goofy. The service manual says that the steering wheel needs to be removed to get at the screws for the multifunction switch. Is this correct or can the screws be removed with the steering wheel on.

I had all those same symptoms however mine was the wire harness issue Dodge was having... the harness is too short and when you tilt the wheel It will pull the plug away from your multifunction box, enough to create heat... . Well my harness melted and was shorting out the wipers, blower motor, headlight function, turn signals flashing opposite etc... ... . Since my truck is out of warranty Dodge wouldnt take care of it... so I had to fix it myself and its not ez#@$%!
