Alaska Bee found these: It is NOT a group purchase item. I just thought members would like to see them.

I can't speak for anybody else, but between those and those "rapid-fire" third brake lights, road-rage is always a spilt cup of coffee away... #ad

HEMI,

I actually like these a lot, for a couple of reasons (... cranking up "I need this" rationalizations... ) -- One, they prevent the driver from leaving the turn signal on, creating potentially dangerous situations. My Ram is LOUD and there's no way to here the clicking of the turn signal -- the mirrors would be impossible to miss. Two, I occasionally tow rental equipment (compressors, pressure washers, mortar-mixers) which don't have electrified, tail/brake lights -- just reflectors. Then, there's the fact that these mirrors LOOK COOL, and it's another weekend project -- another excuse to hang something "different" on the truck.

The mirrors are going on the Christmas wish list.

Thanks.

I don't know about these mirrors shown exactly but typically the driver is unable to see the blinker in the mirror. The manufacturers do some fancy work with mirroring so that from the driver's perspective, the blikers are invisible. That way, if the driver is looking in the mirror at traffic, the bliking lights won't distract his/her eyes from what they're watching.

I guess that blew away your first rationalization, ay Sasquatch? Of course, I don't know those mirrors do that, but I'd bet they do. #ad

Taken from the MUTH FAQ website...

Will Signal® Mirrors distract my attention from the road?
No. While surrounding drivers see a bright, attention-getting display, the driver of the vehicle equipped with Signal® Mirrors sees only asubtle tell-tale display - a reminder that the Signal® Mirror is activated. To learn more you can download our video which demonstrates Signal® Mirror technology.

It looks like they also have a module that controls the signals for other conditions too, such as with the reverse lights (both flash quickly) or with an alarm "tick" (both flash at 5 sec intervals), etc.

Im going to download the video. Watch the Signal mirrors them in action.

Alaska Bee, Did you ever get your hole saw back? I was one of the guys that used it. I wrote my name & address on the "hole saw travels" sheet that was in the box. Thanks again. It would be neat to post the "travlin saw" route after we all used it. #ad
I HOPE we didn`t have a member that used it and just kept it. #ad

Alaska Bee, This is the last time I saw your Hole saw: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum3/HTML/000954.html

These mirrors could be good for people who like to cruise in your blind spot. They may see the blinker and get out of your way before you change lanes. I sent the hole saw to Hemi, hope it's still circulating, not catching dust somewhere. May not need it any more though,I heard rumors that the new Pyscotty will draw air from the front grille area inorder to address the noise complants.

... . I use a 2" round convex mirror fixed directly on the mirror glass of both heated mirrors to keep on top of those blind spots both sides. Does anybody know if this would interfere/compromise the "on-screen" display? <font color = black>

<font color = blue> Bill, you might also want to give consideration to another alternative that a fellow TDR member put together some time ago - the infamous 6-way amber turn signal conversion #ad
. Just click on and follow this URL from the P&A forum a few months ago.....

I called Muth Ind. to set up a deal, they refered me to the Michigan distrubitor who is very anxious to set-up a deal for us! He is going to the SEMA show and said he will have something for us after Nov. 6 so hang on for another week or so! Carl

I've been hoping Carl would manage a group purchase. I've been holding out and checking his site every other day or so, particularly this last week.

On another note, I hit the Muth site over the weekend and noticed the prices had gone up #ad
The heated ones, originally about $250, are now listed for about $270. One accessories site had them for about $350 or so! That's nuts!!

So, Carl, if you're able, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and an eye out on your site. They may be 'fluff' but I still think they're cool!

Thanks for your efforts.

JK

Bravo Carl, finally one that hits my impulse buying button at the right time!

I would actually like to get heated mirrors for my '96.

This company only has heated mirrors, if you already have heated mirrors.

Any ideas on how to rig up heat, by using the newer Ram equipment?

Andy Perreault has had the signal mirrors on his truck for about a year and a half now,and they look real cool, especially when you pull up along side him.

Bubba,
If you haven't seen it,Andy Perreaults' truck is a '97 which originally came with the mirrors like yours. He wanted heated mirrors too,so what he did was purchase the 98-newer style mirror assemblies and added the turn signal mirror glass to them. He had to do alot of figuring on which wire did what, and then added a switch for the heat feature. You might want to email him to see if he has his wiring diagrams.

Hey TRProduct,
You didn't specify to us which mirrors your 2001 has. Do you have the flip-up towing mirrors,or the normal power/heated mirrors?
If you have the power/heated then this kit is going to be the same for all 98-2001 trucks, the mirrors assemblies are the same. Now if you have the flip-up mirrors, then I'm sure you'll be out of luck.

-Mike
