Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) turn up transmission pressure

I had to have a reman 47R/E installed in My 99 by using the pressure adjustment in the transmission how much pressure can I get with out messing someing else up. Or getting higher gear starts?

I'm not an expert here but generally you can go 3 turns some times 5 I think. Put a gauge on it and see where it is stock for a reference. If you get the limp home mode, shut it off and restart it it should go away. Then find the info to add the resistor.

70 psi and no codes or limp mode. There are variations as to how much one turn raises line pressure. The service manual lists one turn as 1 3/4 psi and I think others list it as 3 psi for one turn. A stock valve body should have line pressure of 52-55 psi so if your went best/worst case, 55 psi stock and 5 turns at 3 psi per turn, you end up with 70 psi at idle of line pressure.



Your computer looks for anything over 5. 0 volts to trigger the limp mode. 0 psi should read 0. 6 volts and 110 psi should be 5 volts. The OSS - output speed sensor is used by the PCM to control governor pressure and the pressure should rise 1 psi per mph up to 20 mph and be zero at idle.



If you do need a resistor it is a 100 Ohm, 1/4 watt resistor. It attaches to Pin #31, Orange wire at the PCM.

you will need to drop the pan to get to it. It will be on the right side just forward of the shift lever where it goes thru the pan . You will need a 3/16 allen wrench and will need to cut/grind off about 1/2 of the short side.

There are two adjustments that are there close to each other, you want the front on. It goes thru a steel plate and you will turn it counter clockwise. If you turn the wrong one it will effect the light throttle shift point.

Don't do this with out putting a gauge in it first for reference.

Also make sure the throttle valve linkage is free to travel to full stops first. Many of our dodges have miss adjusted TV's . Mine new would not go to full forward at rest! I know of another one that the throttle moves 1/4 to 1/2 inch befroe it moves the Tv.

Also this applies to all the dodges, but from 96 on we have to be careful of setting it into limp mode. It will need to be set with a voltmeter watching a line to the computer.
