I turned 99K miles on my 2005 this week. I am going to drop it off at the dealer on Monday for a last round of warranty work. The left front wheel bearing is making a pretty good hammering noise. They couldn't reproduce it last year. When it is cold - it will get your attention.

I am going to look at the harmonic balance and water pump today to see if their are any apparent issues.

I am going to get under it and look for leaks, etc,

Overall this has been the best truck I have ever owned. All my buddies have been trading their trucks in - but I have a keeper here.

Anything else I should look over and put on the list?

Thanks,

D.

I didn't get any responses, but here is what we found.

Replaced both front wheels bearings. The hammering noise when cold is gone now.
Water pump leaking - replaced.
New belt - partially shredded.
New recirc door
I also had them service the transfer case.

I had no idea how much of a pain it is to burp a 5. 9. He was still burping it when I arrived to pick it up. I left with it and it was not burped. Took it back and it took another gallon or so.

Left the trailer and hooked up my 24' trailer to pick up some cattle. 250 miles later and it is still good. 400 miles left on the warranty.

BTW: The top of line extended warranty cost me like $1800 I believe. What a bargain it proved to be.

Did you have them do an injector balance test?

Interesting on the burping, I drove mine, topped it off and it was good to go after a full flush (which you are due for if it wasn't done with the H2O pump).

No injector balance test. What is it?

I asked about injectors and he said it started good and I change the filter every other oil change so I was probably good.

I asked the tech if he flushed it and said he would with the water pump change.

Coolant looked good in the radiator this AM. I put some more in the overflow tank.

It's just a quick OBDII test that can tell which cylinders are taking more fuel to keep the idle balanced where it should be.

When I did my coolant I filled the block through the thermostat housing before putting the new thermostat in, after I was all done and topped off the radiator it only took maybe another 1/2 quart. I would suggest greasing the new unit bearings through the ABS hole
