Well I took a big breath and turned the pressure up on the 47re Friday. I also adjusted the light throttle shift. transmission still looked good inside with no big chunks of metal on the magnet. Not bad for 136K I guess. I have not put the gauges back on. Last time I did it solo, but I will get the wife to drive while I look this time.
My light throttle shifts went 1-2 now 8mph and 2-3 14 mph. This is still slower than my 95. I like it better each time I have increased the speed. How far can I go? I don't want this to make a hard shift with my fiver, but it would seem to me to be better on the transmission to hold the gears longer.
Won't tow untill Labor Day weekend so I don't know about lock up slippage yet. I think I'll tow that weekend before adding my usual shot of LubeGard.
I just watched a Two Guys Garage I had recorded where the BD guy showed the heat marks on alll three torque converters. The Allison even had heat cracks showing and BD said 5th gear is their weak point. Maybe that is why everyone of those trucks I have driven downshift to 4 so quick.
I also serviced my Dana 70 LSD for the first time since the disaster with the left carrier bearing and race. The tech used Castrol synthetic then. I went with Valvoline synthetic this time. I have not put any friction modifier in yet. Has anyone out there tried the Valvoline and did you need any FM?
