Is your Pac Brake turbo mounted or inline? Diesel Dynamics says the turbo mounted ones CAN (dont always, but can) cause higher EGT, which leads to lower MPGs. Just a thought. I didnt gain or lose any MPGs going from a 12 to a 18, but that was on a HX35. But I did drop cruise boost by about 5psi, and it spools a HAIR slower with the 18 vs the 12; still livable, though.

Keep your boost and EGTs down as much as possible. Sometimes I can drop 100deg by going 3-4mph slower. I know, the ego thing gets in the way of slowing down, but at $1. 69 a gallon... ... ... .

Yeah it could be the exhaust brake it is mounted on the turbo. I have a full 4" exhaust, but the brake is only 3" probably a little restrictive. When I hammer on the throttle is seems a little airy up there. Will have to look for a 4" remote mount.

$1. 69??? I'd pee in my pants if I saw that price! Oo. Were paying $1. 96 at the cheapy places right now. :{ The weather is nice all this week so I'm riding my bike to work. That way I will be able to afford some #2 for this weekend!

That's about the ONLY advantage to living here. Wages are comeasurately lower, though. Maybe a little more so.

Stomp- yeah, a 3" brake on a 4" outlet turbo is just a LITTLE restrictive. 20hp penalty for not recognizing that one. Or is your turbo not a "true" HX40?

Yeah it is a true hx40, I didn't want to loose the pacbrake when I put the new turbo on. Yeah I also know it is restrictive, but I love my pacbrake. I don't know if you have any big hills where you live, but I sure do.

To get the brake to fit my mechanic had to build a piece for it to mount up. If you have a remote mount 4" I would be glad to take it off your hands????????

I don't think that I could live without the brake. Almost everyone that I know around here has one on their diesel.

Will work for a 4" remote mount pacbrake.

I may be wrong but I thought that propane helped the fuel burn more effeciently, and with modest amounts get you better mileage. Do not know if that is true or just a sales pitch.

Mrickard

Yeah it does help out, but it isn't very cost effective to burn it all the time. Mine is really set up to hit the switch and go. I did however get 18. 43mpg on my last tank and all it took was not hitting the go petal so much and try to keep the rpm's around 1800. which is about 65 and that is plenty fast most of the time. Yeah right, but I had to say it.
