In order to pull the low profile trailer I need to, it appears I may need to remove my bed and turn my truck into a tractor. According to Take 3, the manufacturer of the trailer, even a flatbed could cause a problem.

Has anybody else done this? Could this affect the ABS or anything else?

If you're talking about a mini 5th wheel, I've seen those, not often but for heavy duty trailers they look like a good set up. If the mounting points are fabed properly, it's hard to imagine any kind of problems.

I would just mount my 5th wheel hitch directly to the frame. I haul RVs. This setup will allow me to haul two travel trailers at a time (smaller). Problem is height. I need the low profile trailer to keep the height legal.

Why would removing the bed affect ABS?

This might be helpful to you for your fuel tank filling.

Dodge Fuel Fill Tube Kit

A new fuel fill housing will be included in box-off models

and has been designed for easy installation (external

flange mounted) and to insure proper fuel tube fill angle of

37°. Included in the kit are installation instructions, various

fill and vapor hoses that can be cut and assembled per

body applications, hose clamps, ground strap, and a hose

connector. A DIESEL or GAS fuel label will also be

included depending on application. The part numbers for

the kits are:

Diesel: 52121252AA

Gas: 52121251AA

Installation Suggestions

• Always mount the fuel fill housing as high as

possible and route the fuel fill tube on a

continuous downward slope (approx. 37°) to

insure good fuel fill quality.

• Mount the fuel fill tube upper with the vent tube at the

9:00, 12:00 or 3:00 position.

• When routing the vent tube, make sure there are no

dips or sags. It should have a downward slope from

the “fuel filler tube upper” to the fuel tank vent nipple.

Tie strap it to prevent any sags that may accumulate

fuel in the hose.

• Always connect the ground strap from the fuel fill

upper to the frame. This is a must! If the ground

strap is not attached Electro static build up could

occur during refueling.

Roll Over Valves

Warning: After market bed/ box may not offer the desired

protection (from dirt and water) to the roll over

valves that the production box does.

After the installation of the aftermarket bed/ box, it is

necessary on all diesel fuel tanks to connect 1/4" fuel

resistant hose to the roll over valves and vent them in a

clean environment (such as inside the frame rails).

The roll over valves must not be capped off and be

allowed to vent to atmosphere. Individual hoses must

be connected to each roll over valve. (Do not "T" the

valves together).

NOTE: I have no clue what aroll over valve is... .

Where do you haul between? OR/WA and AK? That is really cool. I did an OK to Delta Junction AK (you probably go through Tok?) haul this winter and it was very awesome, beautiful and wow... just beautiful. Would love to haul between OR/WA and AK for a living... .

Yes, I haul from either Goshen IN or Pendleton Or, to Anchorage. What do you do now? We might be looking for another truck.

I am actually not working right this second unfortunately... I decided to go on temporary hiatus from hauling only because getting insurance myself is out of control at age 23 (24 soon but 25 seems to be the magic age).

And no RV companies want to contract anyone under age 25; I checked with all the big ones I could think of... Horizon, Bennett, etc.

Can you tell me anything different? ;)
