My brother started his truck every morning this week & got High Idle, but I didn't & they are right next door to each other. He used my smarty to engage his high idle & it works fine.

I would almost buy that the superchips 'generic' stock program has overwritten something in the ECM if its not coming on, especially if the same smarty got your brothers to work. Otherwise I would have asked if you were sure to download the software from the website.

I didn't have my truck plugged in for a day or two. At night it was in the single digits.

The high idle worked fine as well as the 3 cylinder feature. I drove it to a shopping plaza and parked it with the engine running. As I was walking into the store, it started doing the 3 cylinder thing again. People didn't know what to make of the truck as it sounded like it was coming apart. ( my truck is very loud to begin with )

I'll attach a pic of the egt gauge when it was doing the 3 cylinder hustle.

Sorry to start up such a fuss... I didn't know anything about the 3 cylinder high idle and I thought my truck was just having trouble trying to idle when it was as cold as it was(-2*). Guess I was wrong.

The reason for the 3 cyl cutout is to create a load on the 3 that are running to help build heat faster. I believe the 3 cyl cutout will disable at a certain temp but remain on high idle until canceled by stepping on brake ect.

I ran a Superchips programmer for a year & hoping that the superchips didn't leave a ghost program in the ecm that may have to be reflashed to enable high idle. I'm just trying to think of everything... . Is this possible?

I had a superchips on my truck for a couple years. Bought a smarty and the high Idle works fine.

I had the tsb reflash done on my truck. the high/3 cyl idle worked. then I got a superchips and after that it never worked again until I put a smarty on my truck. so I would say, yes it is possible. it probably overwrote the program and lost the high idle.

I got it to work! I unhooked batteries after returning to stock..... then reprogrammed it to sw2 & it is working. It is really wierd when it hits 3 cyl. , but It works. I appreciate the ideas & help guys.
