well, I could not stand it any longer. My crew cab just did not run up to par. I made these adjustments according to the post on Geno's garage website.

1)The starwheel was already in all the way.

2)Turned smoke screw in one full turn

3)Full load diaphram from 2:00 to 5:00 position

4)Full power screw turned one full turn in.

My question is this how much farther should I go and feel safe. I have gauges. The truck runs better now, but still not a powerhouse. I gained only 2 lbs of boost up to 14 at full throttle. It smokes some now at throttle. It has more off idle response. Before it never made a puff. I have been told to set the timming at 1. 55 instead of the factory 1. 25:confused:

I have a 16 cm housing so my smoke is more than yours but I turned mine up unitl I could get 900-950 degrees pre-turbo on a WOT through 4th gear. This puts me at about 1200-1250 when towing on a hill with my foot on the floor. 14lbs is very low for your turbo housing. I would think you should be about mid 20's. My current configuration gets 22-24 psi unloaded and 26-27 psi loaded.

Mine is now turned up to maybe 5 turns on th full power/diaprahm all the way/smoke screw all the way... ... . i see 38 pounds of boost all the way in 5th gear with the non-wastegated 12cm housing. As far as EGT's go... . i hit 1350 degrees in about 4 seconds with the pedal to the floor..... so for you moderate "BOMBERS" out there, stay with about 1 1/2 to 2 turns on the heart beat..... Greg:eek:

remember that the non intercooled trucks ie before 91. 5 have larger injectors and will get more boost with pump tweaking alone than the later model trucks

Speaking of better injectors, is anyone still selling injectors for a 1st gen? I'd love to get my hands on a set, but I can't find any.

Mike

Mike, I purchased my injectors as part of a group purchase from City Diesel last year. These are what we refer to as the Power Wagon injectors (bosch part # 0432133875). Call Tim at 1-800-950-2489.

These injectors were recommended by Power Wagon (hence the name of the injectors) who previously worked for Wentland Diesel Service 1-800-822-3875.

Also I am sure Piers Harry of Piers Diesel Research, Inc. www.PiersDiesel.com can help you

Good luck,

'Ol Blue Specials

I second Matt S. Back when I got mine, 6/5, Big Don had two sets left, don't know if he sold them. Check him out if you are looking to seriously BOMB your truck!:D

Nope, the only way someone will get it is to steal it!!

So... ... ... . do you need any gaskets or anything to do the pump adjustments?

Dan:

DOH! ---keep it locked then i guess... :p ... anyway, no gaskets are needed that i've ever seen for pump adjustments... just a few screw drivers and patience...
