Well I now have my Comp Box, transmission mods (thanks Goerend Bros. ) and 4" exhaust mods done. Praising the improvements the Goerends triple disc and vb did on getting the power to the ground is something for another day.

Anyway,

I'm driving down the highway from OK. and notice that on level 2x3 on fairly level road my boost will surge. This isn't a big surge and it's more annoying than troublesome. Has anyone tweaked the Comp Box in to a level that stops this from happening.

This is not a big change. The boost is usually about 7-8 cruising. But this will go up to 10 -11 and then back down. The highway elevations didn't seem to warrant this boost fluctuation and I may not have noticed anything if the gauges weren't there.

I have turned the box off and back on while driving. Changing the levels and leaving it in position "x" for a mile or two and then returned it back to 2x3. I didn't notice any changes relative to the surge. Except when the box is off.

What direction do I need to tweak towards. Higher stage with lower level, or, lower stage with higher level. Besides this I love the unit and it only happened this one trip. Daily I don't have enough level ground to analize.

It appeared to be too quick of a reaction to road conditions. MPH didn't move but maybe a mile either way. Could this be a conflict between cruise and the power from the Comp Box.

comp tuning

It sounds like the cruise control is causing this to happen. Not sure at what boost sub-level three starts fueling at but... It could be that cruising along you are right on the threshold of the box beginning to fuel... remember that cruise control is not as easy on the pedal as you or I and may be giving more pedal than required to adjust speed.

It sounds like when cruising the box is not normally fueling as Boost is not high enough yet. However when the cruise control mashes the pedal a little to maintain speed the boost increases just enough to activate the comp fueling and this in turn adds more fuel and ... . you get a surge.

If this is the case it should do it in a higher level as well if the sub-level is the same. Try changing the sub level up (slight boost changes wont trigger fueling) or down (comp already fueling).

I have not tried it but I bet using cruise on 5 x 5 would be pretty wild.

I run my Comp on 2 x 5 almost all the time. I will have to try the cruise on 2 x 3 and see if I get a surge.

Long winded but I hope it helps
