Who has a good recipe for setting up the afc on a twin turbo set up with a TST 10 and a TST 0 (if they are different)?

Right now I have a valet switch, afc all the way forward, 10 plate just back from full forward (0 plate in glove box), starwheel all the way forward, light afc spring, and preload on diaphram is about 2. 5 turns.

What I'm looking for is faster spoolup.

Thanks,

Clayton

the 10 plate adds minimal hp while the 0 adds a lot of hp. the lower the number the higher the hp rating unless you are talking about the 100 plate.

make sure the cam plate is positioned correctally. If it is "all the way foward" it will cause fuel to dump, causing a momentary lag and lots of smoke. Make sure your govoner arm contacts the plate correctally, and you will notice more power and your turbos will spool WAY faster. As far as the AFC, springs need to be tighter for twin turbos. Tighten them in a little, that way way you are still adding more fuel as your turbos start reaching the higher psi #'s. If the spring tention is loose, it will once again just dump fuel, and cause lag. what is the purpose of having 50+ psi when your injection stopps adding fuel after 10. I used to run a 10 plate in my dodge, and had it all the way foward. My truck was super laggy and would fall on its face trying to pull out in traffic, not to mention I would smoke everyone out. I spent some time getting the contact position on the plate correct (wich ended up being pretty close to the middle of the screw slots), and it made a 100% difference in how the truck ran, actually picked up a few psi too. I also spent some time with the AFC star wheel. You can get your twin turbo truck to almost not smoke, and still make huge power! I know alot of guys like huge clouds every time they take off, but I like trucks that run well better! Hope this helps you!

I can tell this won't work right! Do a search on the 12V forms for tuning tips that I posted. Maybe I should create an archive and just copy and paste.

Excellent idea! :D

Clayton,

Personally, I would pull the light spring out and put the stiffer one back in. I run the stiff one in mine, and like it much better than either of the two from TST.

If you put the zero in, just use the AFC to control the low boost fuel. It will act similar to a 100 if set up correctly.

Also, while you have the afc apart, go ahead and swap the washers on the diaphragm and grind the rear part of the foot for more travel. Might as well since its apart...

See ya at the dyno!

Going to put in the stock afc spring and try that. I can't afford to do anything with the turbos right now. My 10 plate isn't all the way forward. I've got it set where the gov arm hits it about 1/4 of the way up the start of the plate.

What pressure should I set the afc at with the regulated air?

I have a "jig" of sorts that I made that I think pretty accuratley repliactes plate pos/afc pos. I like to set mine up for the foot to be totally out of the way of the gov lever at like 15-16 or so psi. It seems to work well for mine, with the dodgezilla.

I would guess that you may want yours set higher, with the laggier twins??

Oh yeah, put the 10 plate foward too. At least . 020" foward from stock. I usually run mine around . 035" foward from stock. Thats also where I have my 0 plate at right now.

Hey Jim,

I just tried to do a search and couldn't seem to find it. How 'bout creating an archive?

Your going to have a tough time right now! I just got up from a 22 hour day (yesterday) on the road and had a few issues with the plane. I'll work on it when I get some time but I wouldn't hold my breath. 12V's are a different animal and there is always something to learn, even with me.
