Hello,
I have been seriously looking at the option of twins. . I have heard of people running a larger turbo feeding a smaller turbo. . and of people running a smaller turbo into a larger one. . The latter seems to make the most sense to me... The question is with the sizing of the turbos. . I understand the sizing is variable to the power out put you'd like... and who doesn't want more?. . say with a truck like mine a '89 with a 18. 5cm housing . . would you keep that and get a much bigger turbo the runn off the stock one?. . or would i have to change both?... I haven't messed much with in series turbo charging . . the detriot diesel we race runns twins but its parallel. . 6v53 twin t04's. . 600+ hp 1200+ftlbs... so the turbo compounding is a little different ha. . I plan on trying it out on a turbo diesel vw im building too... and information or web links to this would be great. . most of the tractor pull sites don't give detailed infor. . thanks im sure this will be a interesting forum topic. . thanks again

He is only able to make those kind of numbers with a HX-40 because of NOS and Propane. He is making 450 on #2. He is testing a twin set up right know.

First, cut all your credit cards up and give the check book to your wife.
Then, make a road trip to Daves for a test ride. (Don't forget to buckle up. )
You will be sold on the spot!!!

I am currently working on a setup for an eth there are alot of variables in setting up twins its not just picking a turbo that sounds good once we figure it out then you still need to tune them then there is the factor of cooling when and where my advise would be to do your research we have been playing with multiple turbos for 10 years and still make mistakes if its wrong your engine could be the thing that tells you its wrong my $. 02 Wiz1

Notice the much larger than stock fuel injector lines are in the top picture? These trucks probably had Mega pump work done.

Don't anyone get the impression all you need to do is add a Twin Turbo setup and you now you have a 13 second truck.

It's hard to tell from the pictures, are the turbo's in series or parallel?

I think Dave has a twin turbo kit he is selling now. About $4,000 bannanas

I'm personally not sold on Twin-Turbo's yet. HVAC's truck makes 600 HP and 1200 ft lbs torque with a single Holset HX-40.

Just my . 002¢

with yours I would use a hx40 with another 18. 5 for the out board turbo. The outboard turbo is the one that collects the air and is why its usually much bigger. This forces air into the front of the smaller inboard turbo and into the aftercooler. The exhaust does the same, going through the inboard turbo and then into the second outboard turbo and out the exhaust.
Both of these the above systems are sequential, one is side by side, the other is top and bottom. The latter is the one I'm going to use for the easier exhaust routing of the 5" inch outlet. #ad

Thanks, but it wasn't an HX40 #ad

Only one turbo, but just a tad bigger than a '40. [censored] was climbing all over it trying to get to the part number that I had covered with black electrical tape #ad
