BTW-last time I tried to contribute something on here(about a 5. 9 on an engine dyno that blew a headgasket at only 84psi... still had PLENTY left... . and made 950 hp), I was more or less called an idiot and a liar. Because none of these "experts" on here thought it was possible. Those of you that were at Muncie KNOW it is possible... you witnessed it in action!! Can you guess which truck?? So why should I even try??

Msmtd,

I am not saying you are here to cause trouble. It's just the B-1 is 4 turbos in one, literaly. Did I say you were full of it on that thread? No, Don_M~ did, not I. I just said I would like to see the graph. I know it's possible, i. e. Dave Mitchell.

msmtd--I've never measured the wheels, so that's why I don't know the exact measurement, plus I told KK and HVAC that I wouldn't say anything about the B1 when I bought it--and I stand by my word---I'll say this, but I'm not sure it will answer your question--the stock rubber intake hose fits and a 4" exhaust makes life easy once you weld on the proper flange---chris

MSMTD, The B-1 has the same inlet and outlet sizes as the Hx35 and Hx 40 even though it will flow 5- 10% more then a H2E so it is almost a direct bolt in replacement. We machine on the Center Housing so it "Bolts Right Up" and only the Exhaust outlet is Much larger to handle the Exhaust flow to the 4" exhaust plumbing most Bombers have... ...

You will probably learn more specific info about the B-1 soon since reportedly there are atleast two different "Copies" being worked on... So there will be less reasons for me to keep information that was not related to the performance you the "CTD Truck owning Customer" could expect from the B-1.

There are lots of cool things being worked on... ... .

Kurt... ...

Twins

Evan,

Come to MM and I will show you a twin charged 12v that can snap off the auto transmission input shaft at will. It's a Performance Diesel project that uses the B1 as the high pressure charger.

Yeah, but Nowel, ya didn't tell him he'd have to use eyeshades because he'd be looking at a F... . Fo... . For. . . . darn still can't say it :D

Actually, the main benefit to his truck is the head porting :--)

I sooooo wish I could make it to MM this year... Unfortunately, I have ASE tests on the 8th. :{

As you may have guessed, I am doing research on twin chargers... Nothing too wild, just some extra 'kick. ' :D

May Madness

Evan,

If you come to MM I'll give you the twin turbo crash course. Then we can take a field trip to LV drag strip to illustrate twin chargers 101-A ;)

Come to May Madness grasshopper:-laf

Grrrrr... Now I am reeeeallly wanting to come down there!

Anyways, I am convinced twins are the way to go... When I was at the strip up in Canada last weekend, there was one twin-turbo 24V running. It was a 5-speed truck, and as soon as the BIG charger kicked in, you could literally see the truck leap and twist with the extra power. This truck was a 1994 Chev, with a '99 24V in it. The fella goes by "24VChev" on the Board here. Boy, did that rig sound sweeeeeeeet with the twins on there. He's running an HX35-12 and a large Schweitzer turbo off of a Cat 3406. Odd combo, but seemed to work. Laid out 439 HP on the dyno, and ran a 14. 99 at the strip. Power mods are a set of BD XXX injectors, drag COMP, and the twins. Not bad, eh?

I am thinking of using my old HX35-12 as the small turbo, and use my HX40-16 as the large charger. I have an extra 18cm² housing for the HX40 too. Also, I have two other HX40 housings, a 17 and a 19 with the larger flange. I may use the 17 with the big flange, so I have more capabilities later on (H2E, HX55, etc). This is going to be a home-built system, mainly because its easy for me to build stuff like this. I have all the equipment and tools to do it, and now I am just trying to gain some more knowledge on what will work best. Not going for HUGE horsepower numbers here, want better spoolup and lower EGTs... :D Plus the idea of saying "yeah, its got TWO turbos on it" is just plain cool.

So, what's the problem? Take your tests on the 8th, then drive to Vegas. Dyno here on the 9th, drag race the evening of the 9th, show-n-shine on the 10th. Surely you can find a co-pilot to help you drive

Don't worry about getting enough sleep this week.

You will get plenty of sleep when yer dead. :D

We're gonna have so much hp at May Madness, if we all take off toward the east, we will rock Vegas into the Hawaii time zone. From one paradise resort to the other in a nanosecond :D

Twin Chargers Advanced Course

OK Evan, Identify the components in the pic.

1. ) 90 psi boost pressure twin turbo system.

2. ) 700 rwhp twin turbo system.

If you answered either 1 or 2 you graduate and do not need ASE accredidation.

Joe, you make it sound so easy! I'll be down there in the summer for sure, maybe I'll catch up with you at DD then. :D

Nowel, looks like an HT3B and a? Kinda tough to tell from this angle... One thing is for sure, I like that adapter from the small charger to the big one...

90 psi is probably a bit much... However, I also used to say "I am going to leave my truck stock. " *LOL* We all know how that one ended up... I was thinking about a 50-60 psi system. Mild, not wild. Yet. ;) I definitely think we need to chat some more, Nowel.

Now You've Done It

OK Jim, what's your address. In an effort to clean up my shop I'm shipping all my EXTRA stuff (junk) to you!;)

Evan, look at the spring loaded waste gate adjuster on the high pressure turbo. I'll be happy to lower the boost level for you;)

Shop????

Shop? What shop? I swear Nowel, that pic looks like your front living room! :D

Can I get a schooling for 50-1/2 ? I only have one turbo.

Twin Turbo setup

What if a person used a pdr40-16 for the top turbo and a hx55 with a 25cm exhaust housing for the second turbo? How would this setup work, good or bad?
