Hi. New member and first post so please be kind if I say anything less than entirely intelligent.

I have started looking for a good 01. 5 to 02 (I want the 4 wheel discs) 2500 4x4 quad cab to handle towing (12k lb max) and snowplowing duty, as well as to have a little fun. Being somewhat of a power junkie, I would like to get it built to about 450 hp. To get there I am looking at starting with an edge juice / attitude box (I am told that it will be available for 24v first quarter of 06), PDR towing twins, and F1 injectors. Dtt will handle the transmission by the way.

My questions are, what are some other options on the twin setup that I should look at, and which level injector would be recommended? F1 seems to have the best reputation, but if there is another option I am certainly willing to take a look.

Please keep in mind that I have no desire to run it competitively, I just want a good stout setup that will do what I ask, and do it well.

Thank you for any advice that you may have, and thank you for all that I have learned from this site already.

Sounds like a decent combination. With twins you can run a larger injector if you choose. I am not sure if an F1 will get you to 450.

Depending on which F1's you choose and the twins you are contemplating 450hp should be very easy to reach. http://www.f1diesel.com/injectors24.html

DTT is a good choice (I'm somewhat partial) there are others though - not to turn this into a trans war. If you are going to go more than 450 you should consider the billet shafts. MHO from my experience, if I would have known how much fun my setup (see signature) was before I did the trans I would have opted for the billet shafts. As in the true American tradition - more is never enough. If you do the billet shafts and decide not to go more hp (unlikely) then you can rest assured you can will the trans to you grand children.

Welcome to the TDR.

Good luck and have fun. ;)

you sound like you have a good plan. I would recommend you look at all the fueling box combos before locking in just one. There may be a setup that will work better or as good for the same money.

F1 is a manufacturer, not a level of performance, so mild to insane is all obtainable. I would think you will be looking at a Mach 3 or bigger.

PDR has tried and trued twins. There are other guys, but I have never heard an ill word spoken about Piers.

Good choice on trans. I am too, partial.

other things to consider would be o-ringing the head. And having lots of fun!!

I know that F1 is a brand, My question just wasn't worded right, 36 waking hours will do that to a guy. I was wondering which level to look at, I was thinking mach 4, but I may be way out in left field on that.

Billet shafts are definately in the plan. Why go half way?

I haven't locked in entirely on a box yet. TST makes some pretty intresting units, Edge seems to have a pretty good rep. Those are the two I am most familliar with and have been able to find the most on. From what I described is there anything else I should look at?

Thanks for the responses, I am grateful for any help that I can get.

I do not know this for a fact, but I think Mach 4s and twins that are propery sized and tuned would crank out over 500HP.

I am making 450 on a small single and 4's now.

Mr. Wagner

Sorry for the delay on the answer. I live in Superior Wi. right next to the big lake. I can't tell you exactly what the elevation is, but it certainly isn't in the mountains :) Hope this can help you.

You're at about 1200 feet. Pretty low. Want a ride in a truck with a little more power than you're talking about? I live about 45 min away. Read my sig. You defintely don't need twins to make 450hp. Actually I don't know if they'd even light with that little of fuel, I guess it depends on what you go with, but why go small if you're going to spend that kind of $$. Go to the regional chapter events forum. There's a MN and WI group. Actually there was just a meeting in Duluth.

PM me if you want a ride, maybe we can hook up. (I need bigger injectors, my fass hooked up and my water hooked up... I want the dyno to say 600+ when I get on it in the spring)

I think the twins would light at 450 hp, you'd just have to get properly sized twins. With Mach 4's and let's say 100-125 hp from the fueling box, I think 500 hp would be attainable as has been mentioned. If you want all out performance and high RPM capability, look at the Blue Chip FMS/Redline units.

That said, the Edge Comp is a tried and true addition for a little less money. You might want to look into the SMARTY tool that's coming out soon. Try and pair that with a fuel-only box such as the Blue Chip of TST Powermax for really big gains.

Also as has been mentioned, twins probably are not a necessity at this power level, unless you want to use most or all of that power when you tow. That is, if cool EGTs are a big priority, I would recommend twins at just about any moderately enhanced power level. If not, you might be able to save some money with a turbo from any of the manufacturers (I'm not gonna list them because I'm sure I'll miss somebody).
