Twins hot pipe.Wrap or double wall?

Which way would hold the heat in better?

I used 2" wide thermal wrap. (included in the Thermo Tec, turbo insulating kit) works stellar! can almost hold hand on hot pipe.

What about having the hot pipe Jet Hot (or a similar material) coated? Jet Hot and other similar companies advertise in Hot Rod and Car Craft. I have spoken with them about other projects and their prices are reasonable. And the stuff looks GOOD!!!!

Then wrap it and be done. Double wall would be great if it was a vacuum between walls. Otherwise, it's a big hassle to cut and work with. I'd stick with single wall, coated and wrapped.

The only bad thing about the wrap is that it looks like you are drying your socks on the hot pipe. I guess I need to do a search and see if there is a measurable difference in hp or mileage between a wrapped and a bare pipe. Thank you for the info.

My AC vacuum controls 'wire' got to close and I melted them. A friend of mine told me he set the insulation on fire. So be careful.

"Drying your socks on the hotpipe" :-laf Come on now, mine looks real nice. Make the wrap damp with a water mister, pull it tight... . when wrapping. Let it dry then paint the wrap also with the black wrap paint, it'll look beautiful. No laundry hung out to dry on my truck, please man... .

Besides the main exhaust between the flanges of the turbos, you also have the wastegated exhaust tube going from the modified HX 40 top turbo the bigger lower turbo.

No. If you look in my readers rigs I made a different flange that is ramped and will allow the gas to go into the main pipe. Set up looks crude but if it is going to be covered up it won't matter.

black graphite colored header wrap is also avalable. it costs a bit more than the white wrap, but looks better.

No I am only saving them long enough to make the stainless set, then I will delete them. I don't want to get into the twins biz. There are plenty already. Just want to move the turbo back a little so I can clear the oil filter a little better and have a little more room for the bolts. Haven't seen anything that shows what the advantage to wrapping the pipe is but I'm still looking.

The only advantage I see to wrapping the pipe is not to burn up everything around it on the 2nd gen trucks.
