Twins

Just uploaded some more pic's of the setup.

getting closer, took welder week and a half to finnaly finish the

turbo hot pipes. ( i don't have a tig so i'm at his mercy)

he only charged me 50$ so i won't whine to much... :p

had to chop down the cold pipe a little as the hood wouldnt shut.

  no biggie, caught it before i finish welded the tubing.

was hoping to get it running this weekend but alas. still waiting on a piece of alum the welder has. .

taking extra time to try to make it look as nice as possible.

no sence in rushing it. .

oh well will have more pic's early next week of exh, and fuel system...

Nice Twins!

Nice looking set up you have there. I have a question someone may be able to answer. I noticed that you have tee'd into the oil supply to supply oil to the primary turbo. Other twin setups have used the other 1/8 in the filter housing to supply oil the primary. Does it matter? I used the 1/8 and noticed a small drop in engine oil pressure through out the rpm range.

I also used the "rubber only" hump hose (no nylon cord in it) and it exploded with only 30 psi in it. It looks like you may have used the same style hump hose. If so beware it will let go. Just something that I have experiance with my set up.

Let us all know how smoooooookeeeeess!

Thanks for the info. will ck into other hoses, i did the oil lines that way due to the 1/8 fitting is used for my oil temp. gauge and pro lite. (low oil press lite) I can't see it being a prob. but if anybody knows for sure that it is PLEASE speak up. did you use the same hump hose's between the turbos or after? just wondering. .

well thanks for the tip's.

I apprecate ALL the help!!

I used those rubber only hump hoses after the turbo when it was a single HX35 making 35 psi of boost. One of those suckers let go and it sounded like a tire blowing up. The rubber hose was shredded! I now use silicon hoses that are rated to 150 psi or so.

I have a few pics of my home brew in my readers rigs.

I now NEED more fuel.

Malcolm

As far as hoses and couplers, I used hydraulic line and crimp fittings for the oil lines, and used Nylon reinforced silicon hoses for my boost hoses bought from a local truck stop... I blew up all my stock boots . So far, everything has held into the mid 90psi range without problem.

No sweat on "the project". I understand how things like that go! Just a little antsy to see how it turns out :DOo.

Oil pressure

Gizmo 007 Did you use the extra oil pressure port on top of the filter housing or did you tee in to the exsisting oil supply for the HX35?

Thanks

Malcolm

Malcolm,

I just Tee'd into the existing oil line. With the Tee, I'm still reading about 35psi at both turbos. I left the small port for my external oil pressure switch (grid heater relay disconnect).

Oil

Thanks for the info Gizmo, I take it then it really does not matter how we supply oil to the twins off of the top of the filter housing.

Twin's

Finally, After i don't know how long. IT LIVE'S!!! fired it for first time this eve. (sat. ) fired right up, no leaks. .

(hard to believe. ) still have a lot to do but at least it runs.

Malcolm: took your advice and got reinforced silicone hose for the cold pipe conn. s. . Thanks much!! 70$ for 9" OMG!!!

(got it from Mack dealer. . that should explain that. .)

I just have the down pipe on it and man it's a deep tone.

(5") will post pic's later tonite. i just have to grind and sand the cold pipe to make it look nice then paint it. still have'nt plumbed the reg. for the boost so it aint makin any yet. ( gates opening right away. ) should get to that tomm.

gonna go take pic's now .

Scott

"UPDATE" i took it for a drive around the block, and all i can say is HOLY S*&^ i can't wait to make some real boost and the turbo whine is incredable!! oh man i love it. on anotner note, i 've always considered my self to be an excellent exh. fabricator , but in this case i've outdone myself. :D :D i've posted a couple pic's of the exh. too and when it finished i'll post good one's.

Scott again

Twins Rock.

I Dyno'd my truck at BD during the Dyno Days event and I could not believe how much HP I picked up with the twins. Last year I dyno'd at about 370 hp this year 440HP. I I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER myself! I also added the drag comp since last year. My EGT never went above 1250-1300 with the two runs. My Clutch is now slipping also, should have bought the OFE!

Also went to the drag stip Friday night and ran 14. 99 and 97 MPH. in two wheel drive. What a blast!

Have fun with the Twins I know I do!

Malcolm

Scott, sounds like your really have fun with it and you will even later on, I will admit I really liked you fabing skills also, seems like I just threw mine together in 2 days and you took you time... . patients! I want to get with you some time on that hot pipe and see what you used as I'm going to change mine up this summer, post back on the performance!

Twins are finished!!

Well i finnaly got um done! and after a full day of driving in all types of traffic all i can say is. :--) :--) :--) she's a little laggy in the bottom end. but i think it's just me. mid and upper hp are just unreal. i was on the local bypass running w/ traffic when a clown in an older porsche was weaving in and out of cars. he got past me and i wound her up1Oo. ! he was on it for all it was worth and i had to let off to stop from running over him. . he couldnt pull me for NOTHING!!! now that was FUN!! best part was the box was only on 3/5 and the temps were only 1000 at best. .

this in my opinion was the most fun and agrivation at the same time i could do. it was realy worth it! the wistle from the turbos is so SWEET!!! the exhaust note is great, and the smoke is just... well you all know bout that.

Well thats all for now, Scott

head gasket and studs is next for some real boost :D :D
