Guess I could throw in my 2 cents here. Merrick, you're dead on. Although I'm not running an HT3B like everyone else, the big turbo I'm running is pretty close, just a little larger. With a disabled wastegate, I could pump out 80psi on a warm day on flat ground. Drag racing, skipping from 4th to 6th gear, I could pressure up to about 87 ~ 88 psi for a second or two before it dropped off. The head gasket comment is correct also. I suppose I'm lucky (seeing as how mine has held thus far, just pukes water over 70 psi :().

For Pictures, check out http://wind.prohosting.com/gizmo007/twins/twins.html

Transmission and differential temps with synthetic fluid are surprisingly low on my truck while towing 20,000 lbs. That was with the 6 speed of course.

Cooker, I've got my Garrett hanging from my manifold (which is flipped) and I've not had any problems yet. Between the rough roads I drive on, and the drag racing, it's still together without problems. If you use the HT3B, I really wouldn't worry about it. My hybrid is a lot heavier than the HT, so weight shouldn't be a concern.

HVAC, I got the idea from Mark Kendrick and Jim Fulmer. Call me a copy cat :D :p

Hope it helps.

I have a question, which I'm sure has been asked before so I apologize, but it the extra weight of the second turbo hanging off the manifold a concern? Nope!

Jim, where did you get the idea to flip the ex manifold. Who's truck did you first see this on?

Piers told me about flipping the center sections for the easiest route, but I really like the cut and re-weld idea better, drops the little turbo down a bit and looks neater.

Man, I REALLY HATE reading threads like this. It gives me BAD ideas that end up causing financial drain, marital disputes, lost sleep, etc. , etc. Anyway, so for those that belong to the dual turbo club, I have a basic question. How did you determine which turbos to use? Would a smaller one like the HY35 with 9mm housing (from a 01 auto) be a good candidate for the smaller of the two? Just how much boost is necessary to feed DD3’s and a Comp on 5/5? I guess I need to do a search on turbos. When HVAC did his set-up, well I dismissed that at the time as a HVAC thing. Like I’m not looking to push the envelope. I figured I would be quite happy with about 350hp. So I was wrong – I’m beginning to get used to that!

P. s. Thanks for the captions on your pictures Jim.

P. p. s - Was there an excellent thread on the basics of dual turbos that I missed.

RADdodge Mate that PDR 35 with one of his HT3B's like mine and talk to him about housings for what you want and the power you want to be at and it will sing a song. When I send my pump up to him I'm going to send my HX-35 along with it because it will be new overhaul and just that much better.

Do a search on for Twins or Twin Turbo's and read up, some of those threads are old and we have better knowledge now.

There are guys out there that run an HY-9 as the little turbo but heck you already have a great one to work with.

I know that it is going to take a lot of monitoring of different areas, and I'm up for it. I just want to do it right the first time so that I don't have to backtrack on something later because it can't take tha heat.
