1. How does one extend the length of the Borgeston shaft? Is a lot of force required or does something need to be unscrewed? Mine came out of the box shorter than the stock Dodge shaft.

2. The Boregson rag joint has some bolts and screws in the kit. Are they used in our Dodge application? The original setup has backing plates that only fit the existing Dodge screws.

Thanks,

Rylons did mine for me and it was also short, we thought we might have got the wrong one but you just have to work it a little bit to get it to grow, hope this helps, Alex

To answer question number 1, yes it makes sense that the slider is really tight. That is always the tradeoff... an oem slider (even though 1st gens didn't have them originally) must slide easy enough so the assembly line workers can do it with little effort... . and that makes a slider with a lot of rotational play.

Borgeson can make the sliders tight because the owner only has to extend it once for installation. It also does not need to slide once installed in our application because we have the rag joint that takes up any length change due to body flex... and that is minimized because we (well, our trucks) have such stiff frames.

Not sure about number 2... I can't visualize what hardware came with the new shaft.

I figured number one out by beating the flange end with a hammer. It didn't take much to move the shaft. Number two is not a shaft question, but a rag joint question.

I am going to assemble the steering with the old box and see how it goes, since PSC had a 5-6 day lead time on Dodge boxes.

What is the purpose of the splined bolt on the bottom of the steering box-to-frame bracket?
