I was reading posts over at "Cummins Forum", a number of their members have tried mixing ashless 2 cycle oil in their fuel to help with lubricity. Most have posted positive results.

I mixed in 16oz of Evinrude TCW3 two cycle oil in with my last fill up, I have to say after 20 miles my injector noise is almost non-existent. It really quieted the rattle down.

Has anybody here tried this? And what results, pros/cons, what do you think?

Jess

I think on my truck is sounds a little quieter at idle I guess it is better than dumping atf fluid in the tank. I usually run 16 oz of 2 cycle and half a bottle of fuel treatment dont know if it helps but it makes me feel warm and cozy inside

I will be looking forward for any mileage increase, other folks have claimed 1-2 mpg increase, I actually find it hard to believe, but I will be hand calculating.

Right now I am getting a consistent 16 mpg running around empty, Smarty on sw#4, TST 4/0, EZ 2 .

I run 32 oz per tank which comes out to be about 100:1 ratio. I buy a gallon at time from Wally world for about 9 bucks - the container is dark blue and has a generic name on it.

I have noticed about a 2 mpg increase around town from 16 mpg to 18 mpg and have not seen alot of improvement on the hwy... though if i hit the gears just right i can get that haze of black smoke that lets everyone know that my truck is making power

My dealer recommended one quart of atf for every three complete fillups in my 2007 5. 9L. Is ashless 2 cycle oil better?

I wouldnt be going back to that dealer any time soon:eek:

ATF will eat away at the internals of the CP3 and injectors.

I'm currently running 16oz Power Service and 8oz of 2 stroke with pretty good results.

I just looked up MSDS for 2 cycle oil. Its 90% mineral oil, and 10% mineral spirits (kerosene or lighter stuff). I suppose in a 2 stroke gasser you need the cleaning of soot that the spirits do for you, but in a diesel it just burns anyway.

I prefer to just use half a quart of 30W non detergent motor oil. It costs less, and I don't need the mineral spirits. That seems to keep my injectors purring.
