Excellant dealer FOUND!

Kerosine in my furnace??

Bought the wifey her very own diesel last week. 2003 New Beetle GLS TDI with a 5-speed. She loves it!:D She puts about 20k miles a year on a car so this one should last her a while.

First tank of fuel, 30% city, 70% hiway, yielded 48mpg!

This is not your father's Beetle. PW, PL, cruise, leather, heated seats, power sunroof, Monsoon stereo w/6 disc CD, tilt/telescopic wheel, etc.

:--)

I ordered a tuning box (Kitpower) that increases hp by 25 and torque by 45 so she can have some fun, too!

I just don't like that silly flower vase on the dash. ;)

Look at my tag line. Three diesels. Soon to be four. ( pre EGR 2004 going to be bought) Go to the TDIclub.com . There ae discussion boards and tricks to keep the sooty mud out of the intake. TDI's only have two issues that I know of. 60,000 mile timing belt changeout (skip it and break a belt the entire engine is toast) and the aformetioned EGR/CCV sooty oily mud in the intake. The TDIclub has advice on non epa fixes for the problem.

Already registered at TDIClub. :D 2003 TDI's timing belt change frequency has been changed to 100,000 miles. Seems VW developed a longer life belt. I don't think I'll go with the recommended 10,000 mile oil changes, though.

They made the car better after I bought mine!!! The b@stids. Did not get the but warmer package- off the lot the only option missing for the diesel trim level GLS. LOL, Supposedly there is a better belt for my model year also that lasts 80,000 when replaced. Maybe that is up to 100K also.

Dad has a CTD, Mom has a 6. 5L TD Tahoe, My brother is buying an ISB CTD, I have a CTD and a '98 New Beetle TDI - and my mini-van is going to be diesel powered before long.

BTW, my TDI gets 46mpg with me romping the thing... it's been a great car for commuting.

The guys on the TDIClub.com forums are NOTHING like the crowd here... . nowhere near as helpful or knowledgeable.

I have some BIG injector nozzles coming for the TDI... . it just has to smoke like the CTD's in the family!
