Its too bad that such a great website has fallen so far off and towards the attitude of the Ford and Chevy sites. It seems that the moderators have taken the side of the new kids on the block and the older guys here are getting blasted for responding to the slamming and negetive posts to every thread that they seem not to agree with. This is my 5th year of the TDR and may be my last. Im sick and tired of every post I make, having a new "KID" jump in right behind me and find fault with anything I seem to post. Then when you make a post to the moderator, he backs the kiddies and blasts you too! What the hell is going on. I have received priceless info regarding the past 5 CTD's Ive owned and there is one guy that is hell bent to blast me for being "rich" and condeming me for just that. This, I feel is JUST WRONG! It is also wrong that the Mods fail to stand behind the older few that choose to voice our opinion, tho its ok for the kid to say what ever he wants, no matter who he or she offends. Yes, I admit that when someone pushes my button, I tend to respond with a blast right back in his or her face. I guess that is wrong as Im in the over 50 group. I have also gone and deleted any post that I feel I may have offended after Ive read it a day or so later, so not to get any excessive hate posts. Shame on me! I guess its ok if I was driving a truck that my daddy bought me and have nothing invested, I could get away with all the crap that seems to be dished out by the younger lads! It seems that the mods like their input and don't seem to like anything that is given by some of us with 40 + years of dealing with Diesels. .

NOT HAPPY AT ALL!

PJ - I was unaware of any problems you were having. Would you PM me with the details and I will look into it.

boo hoo, I'm rich... pitty me!! :{ :{ :{

;) just messin' w/ ya...

I wish someone would try to get under MY skin by calling me rich!! usually they do it by reminding me how UN-rich I am!!! :-laf :-laf

I to am one of the younger fellas 30 myself and well i voice my opinion here when i think im within my rights, I try to think before i type in this case and in most cases i haven't gotten blasted that i know of, but im the type of person that it doesn't matter what others think im going to share my opinion if i think its a help to another member or if i feel like i disagree with something, actually i have had a post deleted by the moderators and well i voiced my opinion and didn't think i was in the wrong but others felt differently, it didn't hurt my feelings or my character that was there choice.

I am still fanatically happy with this site and its members as a whole and plan on being here as long as i have my CTD which we all know will be a long time :D

I think we can all learn, for young or old rich or poor !!! who cares if you are rich or poor this site is about people helping others and giving help when needed.

I hope no one leaves the TDR we all could learn a thing or two!

this world would be a better place if everyone would mind there own business

and only put in there 0. 02 where it should be !!

there is my 0. 02 :D

Might give you a hard time for being OLD but not affluent ;):D Just kidding buddy. Don't let any whippersnappers get you so riled. I'm only 30 BTW.

It's usually not worth the effort.

Biggest, and most consistent problem I have run up against - and NOT just on this board, is the overwhelming tendency of a few individuals to quickly exhaust their available logic and ability to stick to a subject, and then immediately fall back to their only remaining "tool", personal attack and insult. :-{}

I realize that boards such as this cover a very WIDE scope of individual education levels and personal backgrounds - some members, when personal values or opinions are challenged or questioned, instantly switch to what worked for them back on the schoolyard - attack mode...

Fortunately, they are in the minority, and IF moderators are on the ball, they can use the judgement and authority their position carries with it, and keep personal conflicts on track, and bloodshed at a minimum.

There SHOULD BE lots of room for differences of opinion and spirited discussion/debate at a courteous level - but LITTLE tolerance for insult or deliberate personal abuse! ;)

Mouthy behavior and deliberate insults are juvenile kid stuff and evidence of poor up-bringing - and NO ONE on a properly moderated board should have to put up with it.

im there with matt, i too am a very young member(21) of the TDR, and should have joined 2 years ago when i bought my rig. all us youngens arent all that bad, but i can see your point of view. we all have a common liking with our trucks, and we outta leave it right there...

PJ, I’m sorry to hear of you disappointment, I'm sure that this issue can be resolved without losing a member with your "experience" ;) . please except my apology on behalf of the "whippersnappers". I believe most of the blasts expressed here are in jest, lets not let the few spoil it for us.

sorry to hear of the probs your having PJ. hopefully they'll get worked out for ya. a tdr member of 5 years--wow. it would be a shame to lose you (and your knowledge)..... :D

God bless,

chris

I am with you here, sad to see the few who give us whippersnappers (22) a bad name, but i do agree that an "on the ball" moderator should be nipping it at the bud when it does happen. i understand the moderators have a lot to moderate, and i do recognize that they are doing a great job. this is a great site with endless beneficial information and help. I understand that i and my peers are being looked at as whippersnappers, and i do see why the older generation has a disgust with some of my generation, believe me i do too. i do think you need to understand that there are a lot of hard working, young, and talented "whippersnappers" who are out there doing the 9-5 and/or doing the design work in order to pay the payments and to do the mods in order to have a truck that we are proud to be driving. it does make my eye twitch in irritation when young people are looked down upon because they have something nice, assuming that mommy and daddy have payed for it. dont get me wrong a spoiled kid with toys that mommy and daddy have payed for makes me even more irritated, but that is something that is not going away. good post, it is good to hear everyones opinion young and old, too bad you will be leaving, the way i look at it, if i dont like the post or comment i dont read it. boom done, end of story.

PJ

I'm in the over 50 club, can't say that I have experienced any problems like your describing, most things in jest, I agitate with the best, hate to see you go! :(

PJ-

I actually see less bashing here than any other site- granted this site has "Post HOARs" (not yout Matt or Forrest) Just as any other who add their . 02 for the sake of a count, but if someone disagrees with you and blasts you and you fire back and break the rules, dont get mad if a mod scolds you..... I know the rules here- I clicked the "i accept" button when joining. Someones age, social status, or financial status does not matter when it comes to the rules of this site- but I honestly have not been witness to any behavior like you have stated so maybe I should not even comment.

But what do I know, I'm just a Whippersnapper who managed to get a job and buy lots of crap, Not just a truck.

OK first of all, I wish I could be a bit more "on the ball" but I am doing the best I can at the moment. I am building a house which is consuming most of my waking hours and ALL of my energy. (wish I was still a whippersnapper :) ) I do my best to read or at least scan thru all the new posts in the 3rd gen forum. Sometimes if it has been a day or 2 since I was last on and only have a few minutes, (either before "work" or bedtime) there are more posts than I get to and some slip thru.

I would encourage all of you to (as a few members have done already-- Thank you) to report any obvious (or even questionable) posts to make sure they get the proper attention. Also read the forum guidelines and try to stick to the rules. Masking profanity, (using symbols or abbreviations, etc. ) personal attacks, selling stuff, etc. are all prohibited.

It's fine to disagree with somebody but do it in a civil way. (and don't let it get under your skin when somebody disagrees with you either) If we can all try to stick to the rules and the topic in a thread, we can get along. Hopefully nobody feels the need to leave. It's the size and diversity of the TDR membership that makes it great.

I'm a member of at least 7-10 "free" forums and this is by far the most civil and informative site. I'm sorry for your bad experience. The site is great and for $35 bucks a year, it's saved me some $$ already. Plus I've learned way too much for my own good, which is why my truck is still stock. Thank God for the TDR. I like it mucho.

Gee, what if a fellar is old, foolish, and a curmudgeon to boot?

Can anyone point me in the general direction of the geriatrics forum? :-laf

Respect

I'm relatively new on the site, as a matter of fact I just renewed my membership for another year. Although I don't post that often to offer advice or an opinion, because I'm usually the one seeking wisdom. I'm here everynight scanning and learning. I've seen a couple of threads that got out of hand, but overall it's been a very positive experience being here.

I try to keep a perspective, opinions are like noses everyone has one. Having said that... ... ..... I've been schooled by the membership, young and old, rich and poor, skinny and fat(me), short and tall. For that I say thank you.

Wouldn't want to lose anyone.
