come on now so the young guys aren't what u had hoped for well who are u to judge anyhow and i wonder why people wouldn't like it every time u have a disagreement u run and tell the web master... ..... i don't know but where i was raised that's snitching. in america people are allowed to be different and express themselves u aren't supposed to get along with everyone, that would be boring anyhow.

I am one of those 'young guys'. I have yet to have a post edited for content or removed unless an entire thread was removed.

There are people that make a living in these forums. There are wives, sons, daughters, husbands, etc that frequent these forums. There should be appropriate, civil discussion that is for the most part constructive.

Anyone who doesn't understand that should go somewhere else.

I would suggest that if YOUR idea of entertainment and contribution to a board such as this revolves primarily around controversy and agitation of other members, you just MIGHT find greater acceptance of your attitude and methods on some other board! ;) ;) ;)

Gary you must have changed your tune since May 29, 2004. It seemed to be your idea of entertainment at that time.

"Do you have a new hobby now?"

Cooker, as you well know, the post you dragged that quote from was PURELY in fun, as was the post above it that I was responding to...

NOW, on the other hand, if it's TROUBLE you are looking for, and don't really want to perform for an audience, feel free to PM me. I'd be glad to oblige you, it's in very poor taste to hang out dirty laundry in public... :-{}

It seems that this is never going to go away. . Do I need to refer to kids again. . They seem to be the ones that won't let this die :-laf Here is an idea. . Lets get a PG-13 section for all the "kids" to bash themselves to death and leave the real site for those of us that really care about more than bashing every thread we can!

Not all of us "Kids" are bad like you say. i have great respect for my elders as they do for me. just because you have be ripped on by a few kids doesn't mean you have to go out and tell the world that we are all bad. i find it quite rude myself. but thats me and thats where i guess we are different.

The Fat Kid

Andy

P. S. I am still a kid only age 20 but know more than enuff to be dangerous in the diesel world, and I'm only a "KID!"

Yeeeow! I thought I was a KID!! I'm only 54!!! :D If it is "THEM" (kids) against "US" (old pharts) I wanna join their side :-laf I hate to see a division because of age  . I sorta thought we were all equal on this playing field. Y'all kiss and make up now, ya hear?? :p

This is a GREAT place.

Hmm... I think the oldest CTD sig I've seen so far is an '89. That makes most everyone 16 or younger! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! Guess I'm only 8 y. o. NAP TIME!Oo.

My two cents...

PJ: I don't think there are two set of rules on this website... the moderators do the best they can and for the most part, we don't do too bad policing ourselves. But... I don't take things too seriously on this website. I start a few posts, make a few opinions, listen to the opinions of others and sometimes catch a pot shot. I just shine it on. I've been all over the world and have found pretty much the same distribution of good, indiferent and bad folks. The good always makes up for the latter two. The TDR is no different.

So PJ and others: Hang in there... there are many of us, young and old, who really do appreciate this site and respect each other's opinions and treat each other with respect.

OK first of all, I wish I could be a bit more "on the ball" but I am doing the best I can at the moment. I am building a house which is consuming most of my waking hours and ALL of my energy. (wish I was still a whippersnapper :) ) I do my best to read or at least scan thru all the new posts in the 3rd gen forum. Sometimes if it has been a day or 2 since I was last on and only have a few minutes, (either before "work" or bedtime) there are more posts than I get to and some slip thru.

I would encourage all of you to (as a few members have done already-- Thank you) to report any obvious (or even questionable) posts to make sure they get the proper attention. Also read the forum guidelines and try to stick to the rules. Masking profanity, (using symbols or abbreviations, etc. ) personal attacks, selling stuff, etc. are all prohibited.

It's fine to disagree with somebody but do it in a civil way. (and don't let it get under your skin when somebody disagrees with you either) If we can all try to stick to the rules and the topic in a thread, we can get along. Hopefully nobody feels the need to leave. It's the size and diversity of the TDR membership that makes it great.

Hey, I am glad you are busy, I wouldn't want this site to get too boring. :-laf :-laf

PJ,

Did you actually expect that this thread would just go away after you posted your squawk that in affect bashed a lot of members? As far as rules go, this is a privately owned forum. The owners can make and enforce any rules they want. As far as I can see I don't really object to any of the rules. Not too bad, even guys like Gary haven't been kicked off. :-laf :-laf

Just because some of us have differences of opinion here on the board does not mean that we are bad, indifferent or good people.

To me its just that, difference of opinion.

I havn't found age to be the common denominator with running ones mouth faster than ones brain can follow. I am in the over 50 club and I enjoy most all of the comments that I read on this site. My suggestion is to overlook those posts that bother us and look for the good. Mabey a little thicker skin would help us all at times

I agree. I haven't read the posts he's griping about but there are occasions where lines are clearly crossed.

The only difference between me now and in my 20's is that I can afford more toys now :D:D

As I age I expect to get even better toys or at least more of them ;) :D

There is an old saying that goes something like: An empty barrel makes more noise than a full barrel does. With this said, I would look for the posts that are written by "empty barrels" and take them for what they are worth.

Well said, Gary. And ditto. Contravercy is like competion in the market place- how boring would it be if we all agreed on everything? The biggest problem I have with most of the posts is typos and misspelled words, which I'm guilty of too. It makes it hard to read and sometimes difficult to even understand. Kinda like mileage- slow down a little- you'll go farther.

I'm over 50 and like this site because I know little about the mechanical aspects of my engine. I also like being alerted to problems (truck/DC related) people are having and getting solutions. I have posted serveral comments but only my experience with the truck or dealer. I so far have stayed away from what my opion (except this) is. Most people don't care about our personal stuff, only our truck stuff. Being too sensitive can be a problem. I hope this site calms down and gets back to what is it suppose to be. Have a great day.

Mike

Ocassionally, It's more than a Difference of Opinions

I'm not talking about mere differences of opinions here; there are lots of cases where there are personal attacks on character. It's not an age thing it's just people being people. It does'nt particualarly bother me: I can post or not post, read or not read and ignore posts when they're going down the tubes. If there's any doubt, search some of the transmission, oil and overweight threads. You'll see.

A thick skin does help, but so does a little repsect.

Finally, the TDR is a good place and most of the folks are great to exchange ideas with and I enjoy reading the diverse opinions.

So, I'll see y'all posting in the "friendly skies" of the TDR.
