Two tires down two to go

Well I have now lost two Goodyear Wrangler tires on my 5er in the last month. These tires are only two years old and have 97% tread life on them. Sidewall on both tires started bulging out. The tires seem to be separating inside and filling a portion of the sidewall with air.

What version of Badyears are going bad on you? What size and load range?



Goodyear had a "silent" recall going on with some trailer tires around 97 or so, but they replaced the tire with a new version which has a "S" on it.

I went through a similar drill this July with Goodyear ST225/75R15D tires. First went flat with a pop, two days later a second lost entire tread and really fragmented, each while going down interstates at 55-65 mph. Replaced with tires having the "S" and have subsequently towed some 3000 miles without further problem. Old tires were of unknown age but little worn on a used RV recently purchased.

Ok they are Goodyear Wrangler HT m+s LT225/75R16 with a load range E

figures, these are the same Badyears I got on my Terry. Only I think mine are 205/75/16 E's. I will have to keep an even closer eye on them!



I hate Badyears, I had 5 orginal RT's on my 98 get bubbles in the sidewall. Sure they adjust them, but it still cost more then there worth!

Went to my local tire store today and they contacted Goodyear. Goodyear decided to do an adjustment on all four of my tires. The good part is that I do not have to replace them with Goodyear’s. I am getting Michelins 10 ply steel ribbed tires put on instead. I have to pay $40. 00 per tire, but to me that’s well worth it.

I am also looking at putting the Michelin XPS ribbed tires on my 5er. I had General Ameri 550's on and had 2 of them come apart at different times. I was thinking of changing from 215x85Rx16 to 235's - if I can do it with the same wheels. Anyone with any experience with these tires? or other recommendations?

I just checked tonight, I have 215/85-16 Load range E goodyear WT's I always keep my eye on them anyway. Sure would hate to see the RF one go, there is a bunch of soft copper pipes in the wheel well that have propain in them! I have read several complaints to the NSTB about trying to get Fleetwood to recall this setup!
