our club met this past weekend for a test and tune day at a local sled pulling club's track. some of us were feeling our oats and tried our luck in front of the sled.
just for measure i wanted to pull my truck in the high side of the transfer case so i can see what my mods get me when i'm done. it should pull the sled silly in high once i get done. for now i have a stock transmission and just a few things done in the pump. pretty well stock. well... . i made it about 60 feet in first high with the automatic transmission begging for mercy the whole way
coulda used some more fuel but those (370's) were on the front seat.
another member Mark Guebert, has a 01? Duramax LB 2WD. he hooked to the sled and pulled it about 75feet before giving up. he had it in 2nd and the transmission kept shifting back and forth 1-2-1 and he lost his ground speed. 75 feet for a stock 2WD truck is pretty good in my book. considering my mostly stock 97 4wd only did 60 feet.
good job Mark
see you Saturday and we'll see that track again later, on my terms next time.
