Bio-diesel Or Wvo In Iowa

Biodiesel Progress in FL

As of Nov 1, TCEQ (Texas Commision on Environmental Control) got involved and biodiesel sellers are not allowed to sell blended biodiesel anymore unless they use the additive "Viscon". A B50 blend without the Viscon raises the NOx emmissions by . 5% and TX is freaking out about it. I guess the EPA is on the states back also. Here is a link as to the requirements for the state of TX. http://www.tceq.state.tx.us/assets/public/implementation/air/sip/miscdocs/TxLED-A-00004.pdf

Supposedly Viscon is really expensive and the amounts needed just for a B20 blend could raise the prices of B20 by 15-20 cents a gallon. There are multiple company's trying to get an alternative of Viscon available. This in turn, would lower the prices of Viscon (or equivalent) to where it will only affect the cost by 3-5 cents a gal.

But... All you have to do if you want a blend is fill half way with Dino Diesel then fill the rest up with B100.

DFWBiodiesel sells just B100 now and it's going for $2. 54 while Dino diesel is $2. 45.

Update. The place I get my BioDiesel here in Fort Worth is selling blended once again. The additive to reduce the NOx is in the blended stuff now.

B100 and B20 are going for $2. 39

Good to hear that. I was wondering what Bobby was going to do and good to see the price come down from the last fill up. I was worried that the additive would really jack the price up. I though about asking Bobby about another type of oil. Soybean oil is the most expensive out of all of them. Wondering about peanut or corn, I know he had cottonseed oil at one time but it is thicker and I was worried about trashing the LP or the VP44.

I still wonder why B100 is the same as B20, there is no #2 in it. Should it not be cheaper? Is the additive in B100 as well, it raises NOx more than B20 by the way.
