Dodge 4500/5500 trucks

You'll get a lot of opinions on this but Delo 400 15w-40 has been good for me. Easy to come by also, even Wall-Mart has it.

I wouldn't use synthetic till your truck has some more miles on it.

This subject has caused knock down drag out fights in the past so I won't even recommend a brand but folow the owners manual as to the specifications make sure it has the proper API spec. CH or CI-4. Synthetics shouldn't be put in a new engine, make sure it is broke in before you use them. I actually just changed oil brands and have to order mine and have it delivered so I will buy in quantity to make sure I have enough around but the easiest thing to do is buy something that is easily obtainable like illflem said, stuff you can get at wal-mart or most any auto parts store. I personally like to use one brand of oil and stick with it, don't switch brands every other oil change. If you go with the brands wal-mart carries you won't find it any cheaper unless you buy in quantity like 5 gallon pails or bigger.

DITTO... ... ... ... . Do your own research... ... ... . I get tired of the wars aswell!!!!!!!! I provided the link above to what I use.

A lot of people I know are using John Deere 15w40 plus 50. They seem to be having great luck with it. It's reasonably priced, and really helps to keep the inside of your engine clean. The "plus 50" means that there is an additive in the oil that allows you to extend your drain interval 50% longer.
