Anyone have or know anything about the U-Connect hands free Phone system on the Laraimie?

Will my regular at&t phone adapt to bluetooth or would I have to upgrade my phone if I wanted to use the U-Connect feature.

Thanks

Your phone has to be a true bluetooth phone. Before you buy the phone try it first, it only takes about 5 or 6 minutes to find out. I have Nextel and at the present they do not have a phone that will work. That is from Motorola tech service. The i605 is in the works but not available yet.

I have a Siemens phone with the blue tooth and it works great. Still have not figured out all the features yet but that's for a rainy day.

Some phone manufacturers are starting to make bluetooth adapters - seperated little boxes that you have to connect to your phone to use bluetooth accessories. However, they seem clumsy to use and may not support the correct profile for UConnect (the "Handsfree" profile). If I were you, I would look into a new phone - I am not installing an aftermarket head unit in my truck because I don't want to lose the addictive UConnect functionality. It should be the only legal way to use a phone on the road.

Edit: BTW - I have an Audiovox smartphone (Windows Mobile) with AT&T service that works well (the phone, not the service).

How much is the Uconnect gizmo? It plugs into the infinity system throught the amp right? Is it only availiable from Mopar Parts?

My wife is constantly scaring me when she talks and drives on the phone so I want to get this installed and working.

Thanks!

the only phone that works with nextel is the blackberry

Do you know for sure the blackberry will work. I was told by moto. that the blackberry is not a true bluetooth phone. Even thou I think the blackberry is an ugly phone I would get one, but at $400 + I need to be sure.

The new Audiovox 6600 has Bluetooth pre-installed. It also uses Windows Mobile and "pushes" your e-mail to you just like the Blackberry. I had a Blackberry for about 6 months and traded it in on the Audiovox. Bigger screen, better graphics, has a camera built in, and works great so far. It is a little pricey though at around $600. I know Verizon has them, don't think Nextel does yet.

7520 which is on sale for 249. 00 plus 100. 00 rebate if you have another palm pilot or phone like it they will give another 100. 00 off so phone is only49. 00 good luck

Do you have they Uconnect in your tuck? I do and I had 2 Blackberrys and an MPX 220 Motorolla and none of them would work. I called the Uconnect customer service line and they said they are not compatable phones. Just an FYI.

New Cell Phone Law:

I don't know if you've heard, but starting Jan 1, 2005 you will no longer be able to use a cell phone while driving unless you have a "hands free" adapter.

I went to Circuit City and they wanted $100 for a headset with a boom microphone for my cell phone. Even more for a built in hands free set up. Having a friend in the cell phone business, I talked with him and was able to come up with an alternative, working through Office Depot.

These kits are compatible with any mobile phone and one size fits all. I got a good deal because we bought in quantity. I'm selling them for only $5. 00.

I've tried them out on Erickson, Motorola, Nokia and Verizon phones and they worked perfectly.

Take a look and let me know if you want one, and forward this to anyone you know who may want one!

Bluetooth Phones & UConnect

The Motorola Razr V3 through Cingular works great with the UConnect in our '04 PT Cruiser. Now I want the UConnect in our Dodge Truck. Any 2nd generation Dodge Ram owners (I got a 98. 5) out there put the UConnect in your truck? I have found what I think is the right one for around $250 plus $20 for a wire harness.
