Noise Front Rear! (I think??)

Anyone experience a continuous "lamp out" chime?

Have any of you installed this in your rig? If so, what do you think of it. I'm wanting to do this but I don't know anyone in this area that has it.
Thanks.
Jack

I am getting it on my new truck. I have seen the system in action and it is really cool. I am switching from an auto to a manual, and there is nothing in life I despise more than an idiot trying to talk on a cell phone, steer, and shift gears. Figuring that I don't want to become what I despise, that's why I got it. You will need a phone with the Bluetooth technology. The system is truly 100 % hands free. You listen to the other caller through the speakers and there is a microphone in the mirror to transfer your voice. I am definitely an advocate of that system.

when added as a mopar kit, it will not have the rearview mirror thingy, it will be a little microphone ran up the a-pillar and added next to your overhead console... Not near as neat as the factory issued one

TommyGun,
Does the aftermarket still cut off the stereo system when an incoming call is received and does the caller's voice heard through the stereo system as well? Also, what is the approximate price?
Thanks,
Jack

Thats the bad part, i think the aftermarket system is a total hack-job :

1) microphone up a-pillar to a goofy looking black thingy

2)speakerbox under the knee-level dash part -

3) and then the control panel that sticks on the dash with adheasive tape

yuck , better off buying an 05 with it from factory :D

Couldn't get it on my '04. 5 and the dealer tells me it's still not coming up on the computer as available for order yet. They have it in just about every other DC product, but not the Ram. What gives?

I bought EVERY option on my truck, and still couldn't get the damn UConnect. To me, that was the most important thing as NJ has a new hand-held cell phone ban law in effect this year. Tomeygun is right... the Mopar kit is a piece of crap AND it costs more than the factory option (especially when you're paying wholesale or less for the truck and getting screwed for near retail at the same dealer's part's counter).

TOMEYGUN: Besides the less-than-wholesale deal on the actual truck, does your dealership also offer deals on MOPAR genuine accessories and OEM Parts? I'd like to buy a s**tload of them, but am looking for better than 15-20% off of MSRP.

Not really, 15% off is about it for most of the parts that we stock... sorry

I think the aftermarket kit is about $400. 00 or so, ouch!

I installed the U-Connect in my truck a couple weeks ago. The installation looks neat enough--the mic is on the driver's side of the overhead console (right against the headliner--no wire visible), and the control panel is just to the left of the A/C controls (the wire is routed between the wood-grain part and the A/C panel, without being visible). The speaker is hidden up inside the dash (they want you to mount it to the back side of the knee bolster, but I already have my IssPro TTM and the tire TM receiver there).

Functionally, I'm thrilled by the way it works, especially the voice commanding. Yes, the add-on model still mutes the stereo (you unplug the factory harness from the back of the radio, and insert the U-connect harness in between). No, it doesn't play through the stereo speakers--it has its own that you hide inside the dash.

I think it lists for $299, but my dealer gives me 15% off parts.

I have it on my new 05 from the factory and man it is the best handsfree system I have used yet (had a lot of em) I love the fact that it is through the stereo and people say it is very clear on the recieving side; Just make sure you have a bluetooth phone that supports the HANDSFREE profile not the headset profile or it will not work. It will connect to the headset based phone but will not operate. Very cool to just get in the truck and go and not have a stupid cradle anymore.
