I'm curious about the aftermarket BT & install. 1. ) can it be installed by anyone? or only dealer? 2. ) Does it look like the factory and replace the rearview mirror?

About the only option my 05 didn't come with - seems kind of studpid to bother with the new sunroof and not bluetooth - so, I am very interested in this as I've already missed a few calls jamming to Big & Rich... .

It will not work. I spent the money and bought one. In my research I did find a company that makes a real neat aftermarket car kit. Parrot. biz Go there and look at what they have. If I didn't already have U-Connect in my truck, I would get the 3200 CL. this unit sell for about $280 on ebay. They also have units with GPS and radios. They don't sell direct but there are units on ebay or do a search for car kits.

Sorry to hear that Dave, I was going to guinne pig it too. You saved me the hassel. I have uconnect. I just got a new muti-media Sprint phone in Dec. so in Sprints eyes I am not eligible for a upgrade, even though they just came out with a EVDO blue tooth phone. I think I'll switch providers. Thanks again Dave.

I don't know how Sprint works, but Nextel and Verizon both have a cancelation fee. Nextel's is $175 and that's even if you have a month to go. You might check to be sure, but it might be cheaper to buy a phone on ebay and keep Sprint. Then you could sell your phone on ebay and cover some of the cost. Most phones now have a sims card and as long as you stay with the same phone mfg. you should be able to just pull the card from your phone and install it in the now one and your good to go.

Just something to look at.

Dave

Ya it's 150$ termination. But the phones are +300$, so switch providers and get the 350$ phone for free and then pay Sprint 150$. Don't know if there is much of a market for my current phone as it is 2 months old. LOL. . I think I'll be non hands free for a while.

That is the best description of U-Connect I have read. You should have written the owners manual. Oo.

Other than the fact that he got his PDA information wrong. My Blackberry supports Blue Tooth fine.

With the RB4 nav radio, can you have BOTH Bluetooth AND Sirius, or are you limited to one or the other?

I know with my wifes rumble bee it came from factory with the six disc cd changer and U Connect, Previos owner installed the factory sirius and he had to disable the u connect, dealership thought DC might make a pigtail for it but she wasnt sure, so if they dont i am tempted to yank the U Connect out of her truck and put it in mine, any one know if the trucks are prewired? cuz i would be switching rear view mirrors??

Uconnect Install

I did the Uconnect install on the factory single disc boring radio, RDS type. Cost was about $290. It took about two hours. The only question I had was how I was going to interface the audio out from the Uconnect INTO the factory stereo. It took me an extra 1/2 hour to determine that the cheaper radio in my truck did NOT have an additional input at the preamp level. That's why they include a speaker. So, the radio will only goto mute when a call is initiated or recieved. That's it. So, with the speaker the UConnect kit comes with, is fine. I can hear the conversation GREAT. No real reason for through the truck speakers..... speaker is fine.

Pretty easy install. I wouldn't fear it. Just be sure that you go slow and think about item placement BEFORE you start peeling off the sticker tape backings!

The push button controller went to the right of my drvers hole in the dash. (The useless tiny hole on either side of the dash)

Put the mic next to the drivers push lamp above. The speaker went in the area under the center dash console. --Used two self tappers into the plastic piece the drink holder light is mounted in. The brain went under the dash--where the instructions illustrated. Tapped the 12V line from the cig lighter.

I have the Motorola V551 phone. Took 5 minutes to setup per instructions... . piece of cake. :p

why wont PDa phones work?

This is interesting. We have an 06 Commander with the NAV radio and Bluetooth. I have used a Treo 600 and 650 with it with no problems at all.

Is this problem limited to older style radios?

Does your phone have better reception when run through your uconnect vs when you are just going through your cell phone away from the truck?

I am in a weak signal area need the best phone I under stand the motorala Razor gets the best reception with a weak signal.

Please would like your experiance, Thanks Bill

Uconnect will not affect your phone reception at all. The phone still handles all communication to the cell network itself. The Bluetooth connection just provides voice signal to and from the phone - it is using your truck as a mic and speaker, but not an antenna. If you are looking for a phone with above average reception, you might want to check it out on tech websites like cnet.com.
