My Uconnect was put on after I bought my new truck. I order it from Mopar. It works just like it was on there from the factory. The only diff is that my button to talk is on the dash.

when I get a call , I just push the button on the dash and the radio automatically turns down and you talk. My sound does'nt come from the radio, but from it own speaker under the dash. When your call is done, the radio comes back on. I have a 2005 jeep with factory Uconnect and they both work great. Denny

OK now I am confused, so it does NOT mute the radio until you accept the call? What if you cannot here the call? Where does the speaker mount? Did you have the dealer install?

Sorry - am going to add this, but want to make sure I know what I am getting, will use the factory HU.

You will have to call the parts counter at your local dealership and give then your vin as stated above and they can advise you on the proper setup. The 2004. 5 uconnect was not avaible from the dealer at time of purchase of a new truck or atleast early 2004. 5's. If the Uconnect is in the truck at time of purchase then your radio will mute and you will talk through you radio speakers. If you get Uconnect after buying your truck the kit includes a under dash speaker (sucks) and this where you will talk through. You phone will ring through this speaker in which you can turn down your radio and press the talk button on the Uconnect.

Mine is the unit added after I purchased the truck and it answers through the radio speakers. The only thing you see is the push button on the dash just above the A/C controls and the mic up by the mirror stem.

Works great!

Keep grinnin,

You don't have to turn down the radio--when you press the button to answer the call, it mutes the radio automatically. That's the way my add-on from the dealer works (I bought the kit and installed it myself).

Try these guys if you have further qestions.

They could not help me with technical questions, but they can supposedly answer compatibility questions - whether or not the "aftermarket" system will ring through the factory radio may depend on what radio, what year truck, who knows? The factory system does mute the radio and inform you you have a call over the sound system, and its only connection to the radio is through the CD changer port. If they were smart, you should be able to get all the functionality of the factory installed version if you use a factory radio. You just won't have the mirror mic/controls.

I ordered my 05 with it. I do not like the way it works with incomming calls. You never hear the phone ring. All that happens is the radio mutes to 0 volume and you hear the calling party say, "hello?, HELLOOOO?". not good. It does work with up to 7 phones and there is a priority for each phone. My phone discovers it as a motorola device.

As far as carrying on a conversation, Id say it works "ok".

You have it set on Auto Answer. You can turn it off, so you have the option to take the call. That would be out the window here!
