I have been using mine on the 95 2500 and it works GREAT!! Much more control on decents. I hadnt seen any restrictions on the US Gear unit I think the Gear Vendors unit over runs (read coasts) in the overdrive. On my US Gear unit I havnt had any difficulty down shifting on a grade it just seems to pop into gear as soon as I move the button.

US gear is a small two speed and will take exhaust braking in either range. Gear Vendors has a cone clutch which engages in OD. The helical cut on the planet gears force more engagement presure on the clutch under power and less under braking. You must be in a direct gear to use the exhaust brake. I recieved this info from gear vendors when shopping. Thought I'd pass it on.

BCFAST: I was told you can use the Ebrake with the gearvendors in direct but not overdrive, Is that fact or fiction?

From my sig. you see I have both. The US Gear de-celerator works just fine with the splitter. I have the one with the waste-gate if that makes any difference. If I didn't have it I could not afford insurance, and talk about saving the brakes. I don't think I could drive without them with the loads I pull. I've got 12,400 lbs behind me nearly every day. Yes it works.

How do they shift under power with an automatic when pulling a grade??
do they try to fracture U joints????? I'm concerned about climbing and shifting on a grade

I'm coming in late on this one. Just got back from a trip.

I have the GearVendors and BD E-Brake. Works fine, but have been warned by GV not to use brake when in OD. Of course you need the Autolock and pressure lock if you have the stock VB on the auto. So far I'm a happy camper.

I have forgot and engaged the brake occasionally when in OD, however RPMs were not high enough to give max retardation and had no problems (yet!).
