TN flooding

A bit of WWII and Cleveland Ohio history the U.S.S. Cod was towed from Cleveland to Erie for drydock hull repairs and before leaving it clipped the Coast Guard cutter Morro Bay. The YouTube shows the hit and run but there are many videos showing the tow and follow up in dry dock showing the extent of repairs.

Here's the homepage for the U.S.S. Cod https://usscod.org/ one of many showing the oops and a pretty good overlook at the history of the U.S.S. Cod.

I think it's on my list to visit next trip back to Ohio.

WWII boat. Mine, USS RONQUIL SS 396 was sold, or given, to Spain. We need to preserve these for future kids to see. I rode one during the Cold War and Viet Nam. DBF

I've seen it in person but missed out on a tour. I was surprised how narrow a beam it has, gave me a real appreciation for those that served on it and others. Supposedly the last ww2 era sub that is preserved as is for tours. Others were gutted for easier accessibility for tours.

There is a Manitowoc built boat, the USS Silversides that is in MI. This was a boat built in WII and sent down the Great Lakes into the Mississippi river, and than on to the SP. I did visit the boat two times once in Chicago and once with my grandkids ion MI.

I was not able to watch it dock when it arrived and have been out of town. I expect to make the whole 1.5 mile trip down to the bay to see it soon. I don't imagine I will be able to get close, but maybe can see how the work is going.

It is interesting to see the variety of vessels which come to Donjon.

I toured when it Cleveland. I'm 6'3"; whacked my forehead a couple times, even though trying to be careful.

This would have been a sight to see a WWII sub the U.S.S. Cod sailing on Lake Erie and it returned to the dock. This is video from the sub as it was being towed back after dry dock repairs in Erie Pa.

The beginning of the video you can see the Perry Nuke plant, I am 40ish miles south east of that. Can see the steam venting from the stacks from my house on a clear day.

They are throwing a homecoming party at the dock today for the Cod. I will throw up a link when its available. They are supposed to be shooting off some artillery (blanks).

It would have been a sight to see the Cod even being towed on the lake. I only saw Perry if I went east we were west of Cleveland in Bay Village in the cheap seats. Then I could claim to having seen the Cod and a house being moved on a barge on the lake.

Cheap seats - A.K.A Ashtabula county. We're so poor Ohio won't mandate safety/emissions inspections...there wouldn't be any vehicles on the road :D
