FYI, When I toured the Cummins plant in Indiana they called the motors with that valve cover the "ISB-02". I would have thrown that out earlier but I was out of state. :)

Vaughn, are you really selling your truck for a 96, or was that a joke?

Nope, not a joke :(

I've had a lot of people wanting to buy the v/c Bob, I told Blake Underwood he could have it.

But I do have a few more details about it. . .

I took the inside baffle off and figured that thing out. While your engine is running the valvetrain and rocker arms launch oil all over the place, and the baffle keeps this oil from splashing out and down the blowby outlet. We figure out an easy solution for the oil collected by the baffle to return to the system . . . drill a small hole in the plastic baffle at the end of the V/C on the opposite side of the blowby outlet. That way collected oil drains back down inside the valvetrain area, and blowby vapors escape out the vent. I believe this will prevent oil from being splashed down the blowby outlet and allow collected oil to return properly.

Then all you do is connect your blowby hose and get rid of the stock hose, plug the stock oil return line, and set up a blowby bottle at the end of the hose like the 2nd Gen trucks use.

The piece I used for the blowby outlet was a brass 1" cast 90-deg elbow which I sanded down slightly and pounded in the hole. A little copper RTV and she's good to go. Screw a piece of 1" dia PVC pipe about 5" long into that then attach a heater hose to the PVC pipe for your blowby hose.

Sorry I didn't follow through guys. I know this can work fairly easily, I dare some of you guys go order your own V/C and give it a try, I'm certain it can work.

I don't think thats any special cover, looks like a repainted factory issue plastic cover.

before i had the direct link to the image, it was a link to the gallery where i have my painted factory one [where i stuck the scan of the isb med. duty cover paper]... but the one in the link below is not factory, and it looks a little different than the one vaughn had pic's of [oil filler in different location, more rounded, little isb text at front left corner of engine infront of intake]

I have not heard anything however since this thread started I found out the Canister on top of the OEM cover is listed as an emissions devise. Its called a CB-VC for Crankcase Breather Vapor Canister.

If it were removed in an area that does testing / inspections they could cite you. As time goes on and techs get more familiar it will become one of those things where on a 3rd gen. . they raise the hood, see the fancy cover, close the hood and say- sorry it failed. :(

I never thought of that. You're right... even if we hook up the breather effectively there's no way any enviro tech. is ever going to take the time to find out if it works. You'd have to sue the testing department to prove your breather is as effective as the original.
