For those that have experience with the drag comp, Is there a very noticeable difference from the standard version?

I got to looking at my dyno sheet and can't get over the sharp peak at 2700 rpm's. I usually run the engine up to 3200-3400 rpm's when I'm really getting after it, can you feel a difference up there?

TIA

Matt

I spoke with **ICEMAN** about this last month. He said there was a considerable difference when he had his upgraded to the drag comp.

YES!!!

I just recently did this upgrade (about 2 weeks ago).

First off, let me say that my original box was FUBAR. After swapping to the Drag, it was easy to see that my other one hadn't been working correctly for quite some time.

I called Edge and I believe I talked to Jason. I told him what I wanted to do and asked how long I would be w/o the box so they could fix/upgrade my current one... he said they understand that many guys' pickups basically will not run w/o their box (mine being one of them as it would be severly overfueled and underboosted w/ the DD3's) so he said he'd overnight me a new Drag box (free shipping of course) and include a return label for my old one. Well, three days went by and it didn't show, so I called back... turns out he'd accidently lost my info (closed a computer screen before saving) but still had my name on a note. I had one the next day after calling.

I'd say the biggest difference, and easiest to see, is in the EGT's... . they just don't stop now!! Before I could hold 1400* until 4th gear, but now they're past 1600 in 3rd gear lockup... guess that's what happens when it doesn't de-fuel.

I'll have a better idea tomorrow... will be installing a KSB1-B on a pickup identical to mine, and we'll run his regular Comp and my Drag comp on his to see the difference w/ a good turbo (not my stock HY).

For what it's worth... Josh

Does anybody have any idea on how much harder this is working the injector pump? I've considered this, but don't want to comprimise the pump.

Brian

Matt if you are going up to Ft Collin's this Sat. you can put mine in your truck and take it for a drive to see the diffrence.

Donnie

Donnie,

I'll be there, I would love to try it out.

Stupid question warning. Is there any difference in the wiring harness, or is the upgrade 100% in the box itself?

Thanks

Matt

The difference is entirely within the Comp itself. I got mine from Fred Swanson at Desert Diesel Parts. Fred is a TDR member, I think his handle is something like FSwanson or FredSwanson or maybe just Fred... . and I think his email is -- email address removed --

I've never used a plain Comp, so I can't comment, but another TDR member with a 2000 truck and a regular Comp tried mine out at a dyno day event, and he was very :--) Oo. :D after trying my drag Comp on his truck.

How does this work? Do they reprogram a comp box to a drag comp? And what will it do differently than the comp? Does it decrease everyday driveability?

Robin

Matt sounds good! They just change the program in the box so it doesnt defuel above 2700 Rpm. I cant really answer the driveability question as I have never ran a standard programmed box.

The only difference between a regular comp and the drag version is that when the box is on 5x5 it adds fuel past 2700 rpm when the ECM starts defeuleing. All the other levels are the same.

I would get one again... . as I like to say "Bigger, Better, Faster More!!"

So does the drag comp totally eliminate the rev limiter? I know it allows you to run above 2700 rpm, but just how far can you rev it?

can any of the edge boxes be reprogrammed to make them hotter or just the comp box? like the 3 stage boxes can anything be done to make them hotter?
