My hard drive crashed last week and lost all my Smarty info, and I'm lost on how to get it back, as I plug it in to the computer now and I hear the dong noise, but nothing comes up on the screen like before (found new hardware... ). Last time I tried this, I was on the phone with Bob W for well over an hour because of my computer stupidity.

Well you need to go through the same things you did initially to be able to upgrade the Smarty on your computer.

Download the USB to Serial driver zip (CDM_2. 00. 00. zip) from madselectronics.com. Unzip it and follow the USB to Serial driver install instructions from the manual on the site. You will need the Smarty and USB cable for this install. You only need to this the first time.

Then you need to download the Smarty install program (Smarty USB. exe) to a folder on your computer. This is the program that you run(Double Click On) to upgrade the code on the Smarty. You only need to do this the first time.

Then you need to download the version of code you want to use on the Smarty (Example Smt3EV309D305C. zip) to a folder on your computer. Unzip the file.

Plug the Smarty in with the USB cable.

Then run the Smarty USB. exe program (Double-Click from Windows Explorer). Browse to the folder that you unzipped the selected version to (Smt3EV309D305C. zip example above). Highlight/select the unzipped file then click Update or OK, don't remember which right now.

Clear as mud right?? An hour is not too bad, know some that have not been able to master it after months!
