On my way in to work this morning, I was in slow moving traffic and idiling slowly along with traffic. I pushed the go pedal when the speed picked up a little and nothing happened. I looked down and the Check Engine light had come on and the engine was still idling.

I just installed a PE Comp last week, so it thought that could be the problem and I turned it off. I let off the pedal and pushed down and it started to go again. After I started to go again I turned the PE back on and it ran fine.

After I got off my exit closer to work, it did it again. I wasn't slowed down all the way to idle, but it was only going about 15 MPH. This time I left the PE on and just let off the pedal, pushed it to the floor, let off again, and then it started going.

The Check Engine light is still on. I don't think there's a way on the 98. 5's to display the code, is there ?

My guess was the TPS sensor. Is this something that can be removed and cleaned, or do you just replace it ?

TIA...

Check the connection. Two head gaskets ago, I didn't have mine plugged in all the way and I thought that my TPS was going out also. You probably loosened it up when you hooked up the injector pump wire.

What Comp setting are you in when this happens. Some people got some stuttering etc in setting 1 only on their Comp boxes. I did, but I don't recall it setting the Check Engine light...

Just something else to consider.

tps

:D mine done that at install called Arron at

EZ told me to check ground wire. that cured

problem hope this helps. OL RatlrOo.

I checked the wires going into the box on the engine that you had to remove to peirce the pump wire.

The check engine light went off now and it hasn't done it again.

Thanks for the help... I'll re-post if it does it again.
