The othe day I was traveling down a dirt road in 2nd gear and shifted into 3rd let out the clutch and the truck accelerated on its own , the cruise control was not on. I went to the dealer and asked off the record if anyone had a similar problem as I just had. He said that was strange that on the counter he had paperwork for the same problem with the same year and it was also on a 3500 truck, only thing was different was this truck was gasoline. they could not duplicate the problem and changed out the Computer.

I have done a search and found 3 posts on uncontrolled acceleration, but they were using the cruise control. I got the early reflash on this in March 03. Truck was built in 11/02. I have not got back to the dealer to find out if this corrected the problem on the truck with the new computer.

How fast were you traveling, and how much speed did you gain? Mine will do this, but only if I am going slow, and the speed I gain is very minimal. It is the computer that is doing it. I can be at a stop and without giving any go pedal, just let out the clutch, it will take off and accelerate, but only a bit.

Wayne,

Yours is working correctly... that is the beauty of an electronically controlled govornor. Both my '99 and my '05 do it and I love it. I don't know if that it what the other poster experienced or not.

If you let your rpm's drop too low, the computer will try to accellerate up to a point where it thinks it has enough oil pressure. If you keep your rpms above 1000, you probably won't notice it as much.

all 6-speeds built before dec 31st 03 do this and there is no fix. its the anti fueling feature in the ecm that has a programing flaw, when the rpm's come back above idle the ecm doesnt realize it and keeps fueling just like you hit the resume button on the cruise.
