Has anybody come up with a nifty way to line their storage compartments? Preferably solvent resistant? I just went to grab something out of my truck and when I opened the door I got a big whiff of solvent. It took me about two seconds to realize it was a bottle of Diesel Clean that was in one of the compartments. Who knows how long the smell will stay around. If I had some sort of liner in there the clean up would be allot easier.

Thanks!

"Ouch" !, I mean I saw a article some time back on this site about someone ( with pic's) building fiberglass speakerbox's so that may help you in lineing the compartment's.

I always put my additives and anything liquid/paste in large heavy duty ZipLock bags. Once opened it is almost impossible to keep a Power Service or MMO container from leaking some. Almost everytime there is some leakage in the bag, but not in the truck.

Liners or no liners, ziplock bag or no ziplock bag, tupperware bowl or no tupperware bowl, I cannot fathom why anyone would put a container of solvent INSIDE the cab of their truck. In my mind, this is equivalent to wanting to snort fumes. The cab is an enclosed space with limited fresh air venting. With or without liners, the solvent still leaks out of its container and permeates the breathable air in the cab. Your rolling down the highway and next thing you know, you're too dizzy to control your rig. NOT Good!!!! Especially if your family is on board.

Now for my own former ignorance... ... ... . been there... ... ... . done that... ... got the scars to prove it! I learned the hard way. I HOPE no one else has to do the same.

Stepping off my soapbox now.

I hear you Bagger. I didn't even think about that being an issue at the time. I won't do it again. This is the first vehicle I have ever owned that I felt would benefit from using an aditive on a regular basis. It is going to ride in a little box in the bed from now on.

For what it's worth though I figured out how to get rid of the residual smell. I stopped at the store on the way home last night and picked up a box of Arm & Hammer baking soda that is in the box that is made for the refrigerator. I opened the vents on the box and put it in the compartment that had the smell. By the time morning came the smell was gone. I tossed the box of baking soda and it still smells fine this afternoon.

I keep all that junk in a box in the back seat. Power Service, extra oils, etc. Smells a little, but BFD. It's a truck. . it's supposed to smell like grease, dirty ***, etc. 99. 9% of the time I drive with my window down, so it doesn't bother me.

In Alaska? I have never been there save for thru flight..... two times during the month of June. I don't remember much more than local time being some obscenely early hour, the sun was high in the sky, and it was COLD! In June! You must REALLY like the cold to drive 99. 9% of the time with your window down. But then again, you live up there, so that's reasonable... ... ... ... . I think. I dunno. I'd have my heater going 99. 9% of the time if it was anywhere near as cold as it was during my two summer thru flights.

Anyway, what you with your truck is your business. I'm merely relating my lack of common sense at one time in my life. If you want to end up crosseyed and wrecked... ... ..... more power to ya pal!

It's around 70* right now, which is quite comfortable if you ask me. I'm sure if I went down to Alabama I'd be stripped down to my undies sweating and you guys would be in winter coats complaining that it's going get into the 60*s hahaha.

Now when it's close to 0* or whatever I'm not driving with my window wide open, but I do have it opened a bit. I like to have fresh air coming in.

As for keeping stuff in the truck, the only thing I notice that smells a bit is the Power Service, and it's barely noticable. If something in the truck was fumigating the thing, I'd throw it in the back.
