also, how many grease fittings on the 04. 5 4x4? i only found the one on each tie rod end.

Make sure your CP3 injector pump is not the culprit. I have read a fair amount of posts about the injector pump seeping, and dripping on the power steering box.

Yes, that's what he means. There have been a number of reports of leaking front seals on them.



Are you guys talking about the PS pump or the steering gear?

Hey - about 4 mnts ago had pulling to the right, after some 5 hrs, they relpaced the steering box... had no leaks, that fixed the right pulling by 92. 5%. No leak at all, have 32k now, and no major events!

I've read some posts where the adjusting nut on top of the steering box is loose causing it to leak. Good place to start.

Look to see if the power steering pump reservoir is leaking and dripping onto the box. The o-ring in the steering pump reservoir fails on some too.

Took mine in yesterday to get a transmission leak fixed. It turned out to be a bad output shaft seal between the transmission and transfer case. While they were working on that, they noticed that the steering gear was leaking too (I had not noticed that), so they replaced the steering gear under warranty as well. Probably my imagination, but the steering seemed "tighter" on the way home tonight. The pickup only has 5K miles on it.
