I had a flat tire this morning on my way to work, stopped off at the place that put them on back in December and had it fixed and they pointed out to me that I have some significant wear on the outer edge of the tire. These are brand new tires only put on about 4000 miles ago. The steering feels good as I had the steering box and most of the other related components replaced last May after I hit a deer. And they had done an alignment at the time. The guy this morning said maybe it just needed to be toed in as all the other tires looked fine. Do I need to go through a complete alignment again and if so what do I need to worry about? Could there be another reason? Like I say it seems to drive just fine, I can let go of the wheel and she runs straight without a problem. Let me know what you think as I am not liking the idea of ruining these tires so quickly. They are BF goodrich AT's 235/85 if ya need that to help me out.

Thanks!

Jon

Sounds like your tires are towed in too much. This will make the steering real stable but as you are seeing will wear out the tires.

I have found that dulleys will eat up the front tires unless they are under a load in the rear all the time, i had a GMC K3500 before this dodge and it was the worst i had ever seen. The reason i have found for this is if your truck is not under a load in the rear many times when you hit a large bump your rear wheels almost and sometimes do come off the ground, its just because the rear suspension is so stiff your tires bounce especially if you run high tire pressures. Because of this pressure on your front tires don't be surprised if you get a little wear on your tires outside edge. It should't be a large problem but many times the truck will be aligned perfectly and still get this wear.

The thing that is bothering me the most is the last set of tires I was very bad and never rotated, the front wore perfectly even with almost 30,000 miles put on since my accident. The only thing that has been done to the truck as far as steering, suspension, anything is the actual tires. The set before that also never had any problem with uneven tire wear, although they did get rotated like they were supposed to. Just seemed odd to me. Any other ideas? right now I am looking at taking it in to get the alignment done and have the toe in checked and have all the tires rotated, but I just don't want to be wasting my money on services I don't need if there was some other obvious answer
