If you go to www.unifilter.com/whyfoam.htm and www.unifilter.com/performance-facts.htm they explain the differences between gauze and foam. I also use Uni for my off road vehicles and they seem to be a standard. I also have seen K&N's completely covered with dirt where you couldn't even see the pleats on the outside and when removed, no traces of dirt on the inside. But I know diesels are a different beast sucking alot more air than any gasser does. AFE for my diesel.
